Hi everyone,

I just read a Chinese article mentioning unintentional SN poisoning of a dozen people after a meal during a funeral a couple weeks ago (awful situation I know).
They ate a dish were SN was mistaken with table salt.
They almost all die and I don't think you use that much salt in a dish so I guess the total SN amount was not even 20g yet several people died despite the small quantity AND consumption of food.
This made me look for more articles referring to SN poisoning and found a few where people ate dishes prepared with SN and actually passed away so the question is why can't we just ingest SN along with some food to ease the process? Maybe a small serving of something easy to digest like a cup of apple sauce for example or a small serving of puréed something...

My guess is the amount of time it took for them to pass away. The SN for ctb protocol is in place for a quicker hopefully less painful death
But i know @Quarky00 will know this better than me

Yeah I'd agree with @Living sucks that the fasting in the SN protocol speeds up the whole process of absorption of the poison in the digestive system. And speeding up that process means less time between consumption and unconsciousness, and so less time to experience any symptoms of discomfort or distress. It would also mean less time between unconsciousness and death, which reduces the risk of discovery and possible rescue.

In contrast, I would imagine those who died from the accidental consumption in food, and from lower doses, probably had a much slower and more drawn-out death, and certainly not a peaceful one. Additionally, their obvious lack of fasting and smaller doses taken meant that there was would have been less certainty overall that their experience would be ultimately fatal. I'm just adding this so nobody tries eating SN in food in the mistaken belief that the only negative is a longer wait or more suffering.

Additionally, even if you could consume SN with say a small amount of apple sauce, that would only very slightly mask the taste in your mouth anyway. If you anticipate the taste being a particular concern for you, there are equally if not more effective methods mentioned in the guides, such as anesthetic mouthwashes or lozenges, ice cubes or using a straw.

I will also add my regular disclaimer that the reason you may vomit from ingesting SN is not because of the taste, rather it is a purely instinctive reaction by the stomach to poison being detected. Accordingly, the only way to reduce the chances of vomiting is to take one of the recommended antiemetics (or alternatives). Masking the taste with food or any other method above will not prevent this kind of vomiting.
