I always go for the least painful method. I think SN will be less painful than hanging. Also I don't want my family to see my body hanging somewhere. It will be horrible for them, and noone deserves to be in such situation.

My original method was hanging.
I bought a proper rope, bought a foot-stool to kick away and even scouted trees in the local park that would be most ideal for tying the noose onto and doing the deed.
So, I've been on both sides of the fence on this one.
Then I found out about SN.
Here's the benefits of SN:
If you fail, or are found sooner than the process takes, the effects are largely (almost entirely) reversible.
If you're cut down while hanging, brain damage and being a permanent vegetable is a very high risk.
SN is totally portable. You can do it in a hotel room, or the deepest recesses of the woods, or your own bed, or even in a national park while looking up at the stars.
Although some debate the peacefulness of SN, I can almost guarantee it would be more peaceful than hanging yourself - especially if you follow Stan's guide and get loaded on benzos beforehand.
In a nutshell, the portability, access, lower risk of permanent damage, relative peacefulness all make SN a far, far superior way to CTB than hanging.

SN because it's basically drinking something and you're done.
Hanging, at least for me, is very complicated. I can't find my sweet spot and I only feel as if my head was about to explode!

100% SN out of these two options.
It's not even about peacefulness, the slight risk of failure and brain damage is definitely not worth it. This is the same reason I abandoned my plan to use an exit bag despite it being super peaceful when done right.
If you're going to do it, definitely do it right and choose a method that cannot end up with you in a vegetative state.

Somebody voted Hanging on this - I'd genuinely like to hear their thoughts on why this is. Not to argue with them, just have an honest, collaborative conversation.

I definitely think hanging is still a viable method and what I would probably choose over sn. However, peace wise I think its sn as long as you use all/most of the recommended medication.

I would go with SN. I just prefer the idea of taking a substance. I'm kinda scared of hanging methods as they can easily go wrong and they just look uncomfortable.

Imma have to go with hanging. I have gastritis and a weak stomach in general so I prolly puke taking SN and keep shitting black for a week or so. Passing out with partial proofed a bit tricky couple times but when I did it felt really good actually. Cant speak for full suspension though. Surviving damaged is very scary

I'm still going with full suspension - there's no way I'd be able to drink some disgusting crap when completely sober and hungry only to feel sick and throw up afterwards - screw that. I want my last day to be fun with lots of candy and alcohol.
Neither for me now, came up with my own take on the night night, built a prototype over a year ago and it worked. So going to refine it to make it fail proof.

I've heard that there's no permanent organ damage with SN, but don't quote me for that. We have many SN survivors here with their brains intact. Hanging, on the other hand, will cause permanent brain damage with extremely high chance of being a vegetable if failed. I'd choose the former instead of the latter for that reason alone.
Why don't drink alcohol!? Teach me! I feel like I'm going to be nervous as hell before and worried I will want to slick back something strong.

Having seen videos of people who have hanged it looks horrendous, very traumatic. SN is a drink, and while it might be salty and you might throw up - well I've thrown up plenty in the past from too much beer, etc. So if you are found, or change your mind and can ring for help fast enough then SN seems to offer a more elegant way out (as elegant as killing yourself can be) with a get out clause, whereas hanging just looks bad and a struggle.
I want to go without flailing around at the end of a rope, or to be found with my tongue stuck out, or etc.
Albeit that if I take SN I might look like a smurf, but for me SN seems the more sophisticated or humanistic way to go.
But each to their own.

It's all I think about making it as likely to succeed as possible, no alcohol = better success rate. But it's by no means a definite fail.
When you work out the necessary amount to be fatal, for a say 80kg person, something like 8 grams is fatal, so drinking 25 grams and it shouldn't make much difference if you can keep it down. I can't remember the exact lethal dose/kg, but have read it on here some time in my lurking days.

I tried partial hanging plenty times and I would sometimes pass out within seconds which seemed easy enough but then for some reason I would come to and that "strangling" feeling of the tight rope around my neck was just awful.
So I'd probably choose SN but the nausea and heart palpitations etc. before death don't sound too pleasant either. SN is banned here anyway.

Interesting, I knew about the 'angel lust' but the tounge sticking out is new to me since everything I've seen of someone dead from hanging looks very peaceful. Never seen anyone die from SN so no idea what that looks like.
There's some reports of observations, it's what made me choose it. Dizziness, nausea, blacking out, convulsions, then it turns you blue after you're dead/ while dying. But you're going to change colour when you're dead anyway.
Don't get me wrong if I still had SN it would be my preferred choice, going out chilling in bed watching some David attenborough or something but carotid atery restriction imo only has the blacking out and convulsions from those effects listed. Maybe full suspension is different. The biggest downfall for SN for me would be the time taken from drinking to unconciousness. It's a long time time to panic. Definitely pros and cons to both for sure.
I think perhaps the reason hanging is so traumatic for many is they effectively strangle themselves, rather than finding the sweet spot. If you can find the sweet spot then it's probably lights out in seconds and you know nothing else. For the life of me I can't find mine.
The threads "It seems that SN is not peaceful" and "Is SN a painless way out" have had me reconsidering. With full suspension hanging the duration of suffering is short — in best case scenario less than a minute — whereas with SN it's much longer. With both there are reports of not being able to breath. Also there can be long term damage with SN according to some reports and it's less likely to succeed than with full suspension hanging. The downside of full suspension hanging is the SI and the risk of blocking the airway and having a more prolonged death.
