I hope so.I'm almost certain the stats are off.
No, I'm pretty sure this is in reference to cases reported to poison control.I wonder if they mean 15% of reported cases to poison control have resulted in death. Meaning out of everyone who called for help, 15% even while being taken to the ER did not make it. This is kind of bugging me now. Maybe it will make me calmer when I take my SN, you know it convinces my Survival Instinct that....ehhhh only 15% of people die from this, I'll be fine. This better work, honestly, I can't fail, I can't stay here.
Yup.No, I'm pretty sure this is in reference to cases reported to poison control.
I think another way to word it might be that despite a call to poison control and effort to get help, 15% died anyhow.Yup.
IMO that number seems low due to people who were
- calling for help
- being found early
- used pickling salt (and don't use SS)
The article in the NYT is most likely one of the major drivers.
It doesn't mean the method is bad. It works if you follow the guidelines.

Yeah I agree. I see so many threads saying that it's impossible to restrict SN due to its legit curing reason but like... It's really not? Seems quite simple for a country to restrict all sales/imports of high percentage SN to non-businesses, because technically any home curer can do just fine with 6%.Unfortunate. I say that because it worries me that SN will be recalled and they will only sell SN with lower purity than what is required to use to CTB.
Oh good to know. I am still worried about my SN being exposed to oxygen, does opening the bag for 8 seconds then immediately close it risk SN to oxygen exposure?Yup.
