  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Hi,
Seeing a lot about how if you're in the uk and you google stuff about sn the police come and talk to you, is this true? How do they find out if you search it? Is there anything I can do to prevent being found

It's safe to google.
The only people getting visits from the police are where they've given their details when buying SN from a particular seller.

You Brits can't even search on the Internet without "Big Brother" watching what you're doing? That's like invasion of privacy. Don't you have similar laws to the US that protect you from illegal searches and seizures without a warrant, and that protect your privacy like the US 4th amendment?

It's insane how infantilizing the UK government is to its citizens.

I've never heard of police visits from just searching for it. Only when people have actually placed orders and the company has later been investigated. That happened with the Canadian IC source and there are many UK reports of it happening with DMC now.

Where I imagine there could be concern/ suspicion is when people search for nitrAte rather than nitrite- as I believe that can be used in explosives.

Speaking in general, the government complex at GCHQ has, I believe, enormous abilities to view and screen electronic communications for security purposes. Certain trigger words or phrases do flag up particular observation, there's no secret about that (although the Triggers will vary according to intelligence received and they are confidential) . This function is, however, really focused on anti terrorism prevention and information obtained is shared with allies such as the US and European countries.
Whilst for very obvious reasons the exact scope of such observations is covered by the Official Secrets Act it's not very likely that our security services are particularly concerned about some private individuals attempting to obtain SN or similar substances for the purpose of ctb.
If it were to be flagged it would be more because whilst legal to purchase (I believe) it is a controlled substance under the Poisons Act and companies licensed to supply it are legally required to notify the Home Office of any "suspicious" purchases. That's why they only supply in certain quantities to registered business users or laboratories in most instances.

That's how I see it too.
