Hi guys

So you should keep SN stored in a cool place but my appartement gets really hot sometimes.. Im worried it's not gonna work anymore.

How warm is it allowed to be ?

SN has a rather high decomposition temperature, it would have to get ridiculously hot for it to decompose, 320 degrees Celsius to be precise although it has a melting point of 271 degrees Celsius.

Chemical reactions generally accelerate with higher temperatures, but how hot can a room temperature get. Maybe store it in a corner, as close to floor as possible and close to a wall. Packaging is the most important with nitrites.

Could you tell what packaging is best? Is it ok to store in a plastic bottle (it's an original package from the supplier, white, thick material which looks like some sort of plastic) wrapped in additional plastic foil?

Keep it in its original storage, I don't think there's any reason to change anything if the supplier sent it to you that way.

Plastic bottles are usually HDPE or sometimes PP. The markings should on the bottom. If there is a glued seal on the bottle under the cap, it will be enough to store it for a few years, if the cap itself has a seal. It is usually just a recess that sits tightly on the bottle. The plastic wrap does nothing unless it's a vacuum sealed bag. If you intend to keep it for a longer period of time, it would not hurt to transfer it to a hermetically sealed brown/amber glass bottle, filled up to a neck with no room for air. Some manufacturers ship their chemicals in temporary containers that are not meant for storage, as the labs/companies have their own specialized containers for everything.
