Story Slowly Slipping

My eyes grow heavy,
As I lay down to sleep,
But as the night grows longer,
My slumber grows deep.

I find myself drifting,
Into a world unknown,
A place where time is endless,
And I am all alone.

The darkness swallows me whole,
As I fall further down,
Into the abyss of my mind,
Where nothing can be found.

It's as if I'm slowly slipping,
Into a never-ending dream,
Where reality is but a memory,
And nothing is what it seems.

I am lost in this realm,
As the darkness consumes my soul,
And the fear of the unknown,
Takes its ultimate toll.

But as I take my last breath,
And my heart slowly fades,
I find comfort in knowing,
That my pain will soon evade.

For in this endless dream,
I am finally free,
From the chains of the world,
And all that torments me.
