Benzos are anxiolytic (anxiety reducing) and sedating. They can be used as sleeping pills, but sleeping pills are not necessarily benzos. Over the counter (OTC) sleeping pills are usually antihistamines and much less effective. There are also other non-benzo prescription sleep aids like Z-drugs (zolpidem/Ambien, zopiclone) and some tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs).

It would be easier to give advice if you mentioned exactly what sleeping tablets you have access to.

I don't have access to sleeping pills yet.. however I think it's easier to acquire at my doctors appointment than benzo's will be.

So that's why I'm kinda trying to figure out if that will work too

Non-benzo sleeping tablets like Ambien and Zopiclone are sedatives. They make me "woozy" and sleepy like benzos do, especially if you take more than the recommended dose. Probably not as effective as benzos but might be an option if you can get them prescribed. You could take a few and see how they affect you beforehand.
