Why isn't this considered a method? I'm having a fast heart rate now as a result of staying up for almost a week. It's 120 bpm. Sleep deprivation can cause a heart attack.

I've learned to reduce it to 80 bpm by saying "om" to myself for a few minutes.

In theory yes it could be a method... but it could very well be extremely painful come closer to your CTB.

Its awfully painful. On days I am sleep deprived (few hours sleep), I feel more miserable, angry, depressed, suicidal.

I can't imagine going a week without sleep

I think it would take so long and you'd go so totally batshit insane before it actually ended. Not really a workable method.

The squeeze in my chest is painful sometimes
Yeah that's where it going to start... I would not be surprised if the pain grows quicker in the coming days.

Hospital said tests are all negative. I'm fixing my sleep now.

Am I going to be ok since tests were negative? It's 100bpm now. I checked. Do I just need to force myself to sleep a lot?

It can very well kill you if you find something or someone to keep you awake long enough. But first it turns you into a violent zombie like creature.

A cruel experiment was done in 1947 to determine how much we need sleep and to see what would happen if we are deprived of it for a long time.....it did not go well.

The Russia sleep experiment is total fiction. It's a creepypasta someone invented in 2010.

Because it doesn't work. Even with stimulant drugs you'll eventually crash into involuntary sleep. In (horrifically cruel sounding) animal experiments they attached the subjects to an apparatus that would forcibly dunk them in water whenever they fell asleep. Even then most of them didn't expire naturally but were euthanised when they appeared close to death:

The only known, proven cases of human death associated with insomnia is the incredibly rare genetic condition fatal familial insomnia, and the even more rare sporadic fatal insomnia:

Chronic insomnia is associated with plenty of adverse outcomes, from heart disease to car accidents, but keeping yourself awake for long periods has zero chance as a reliable method.

Don't even bother looking at the russian sleep experiment, as stated above it's a scary campfire story. @sanitystruggle is correct. Unless you have an extremely rare medical condition or are being tortured with war crimes, you are eventually going to fall asleep. Your brain is already likely taking micro sleeps you aren't even noticing.

As far as your heart rate being high, yes it's possibly related, however if you are consuming caffeine or other stimulants and/or are dehydrated then it's going to spike your heart rate. 120 is an elevated heart rate but not elevated enough to cause any doctor to be too concerned or treat you with anything more than a bag of fluids.

My suggestion would be to drink some water and go to sleep before you start hallucinating. Check your heart rate again after you've slept and are well hydrated. If it's still elevated and you feel concerned talk to your GP.

@rozeske We had a back and forth debate in another thread where I outlined that it is possible, not easy and normally can take a very long time with no guarantees and now you're basically conceding that it's possible 🙄🥴

So much for me giving your possibility theory a chance, well there goes my tiny hope in to thin air. Everyone is saying it's a fictional story 😅
