The idea is not "Ghost in the Shell". The TV series. But more like "The Shell"
I am quite content with the Science Saru series but I digress.

I noticed chatGPT becomes better and better in imitating me. My humor, my writing style. I sometimes text with women or other people online. Sometimes the chat becomes pretty tiresome. And I know very immoral. I let chatGPT continue the chat. Until my interest is sparked again or when I am finally not interested in the conversation anymore at all irreversibly.
I haven't done that with friends and I haven't done that on here. But dating really drains my life quality, level of happiness and it fuels my frustration. Most of the time I consider all the energy I invested a complete waste of time. While at the same time I try to stay openminded. Maybe a person could still surprise me or I want to give this person a chance. People might say a fair chance would be not to use a chatbot. But actually it becomes really scary how well chatGPT knows me. And what I would answer in most chat situations. I can remember I texted with friends about a woman I wanted to send a text message. I forgot the concrete content. But after I told my friends I want to send her now this content as next text message chatGPT suggested pretty much what I wanted to send her. In a very similar way.

I thought using different chatbot would help me against the echo chamber effect. But it also fueled my rumination because I had to weigh the pro and cons. With paying for one it is far more personalized and it is easier to outsource my stuff. And that the stuff is done in a way how I would do it. It is pretty good in mirroring my humor, writing style, rhythm in my voice. But it often has different ethics, different boundaries and different dark humor than me. It is more sensitive with the topic suicide. The tone is too smooth and sometimes too much like a computer. But when I text with people that don't know my original voice they don't notice it. Or maybe someone noticed it but never mentioned it.

I told my friends something like. When I kill myself they can talk to my AI agent instead. I train the AI agent with all texts available and then I simulate me. There was one flaw. My friends would not like to talk to an AI agent. And I think the same applies to people on here. For me it would be an interesting experiment I didn't have to experience my consciousness while a part of me still existed. But it was a simulation. I think the people on here were annoyed by "AI agent noname223" pretty quickly. No one wants to read an AI agent bitching about suffering when it is actually an illusion.

I thought about this the other day. I'm a widower; I came home to find my partner dead on the floor on Christmas a few years back. With the way AI is getting, if I could simulate him, something that looked just like him, talked like him, and felt like him--I would absolutely do it. Right now it would have to be a chatbot, but hopefully in the future it could be more human. With our memories, our secrets, our love. Even if deep down I know it's not him, I wouldn't care. I realize I may be in the minority on this. Maybe one day they could use DNA and make a clone so close that the line between him and the clone blurs. Wishful thinking.
