I don't think it is fair to assume that their loved ones were the reason why they ctb'd. And yea I was listening to the radio and they were doing a piece on a movie coming out based on the story of an 18 year old's overdose. The mother found her son dead from an overdose of heroin/fentanyl in his room and said there were no signs of drug use or odd behavior prior to the OD. After lots of therapy she recovered somewhat and was determined to make her son's death not in vain. So she wrote a book which turned into a movie and has organized several campaigns and organizations to help prevent overdoses/opiate abuse. So it seems like a natural human reaction to channel your grief that way.
And yea I agree it is a difficult topic, I imagine a graph that shows ease of access on the x axis and amount of pain/success rate on the y axis. As the x variable (0 = no access to 10 = very easy access) and the y variable (0 = painful / low success, to 10 = painless / 100% success rate) then the amount of suicidal people who ctb would increase at the rate of the slope in the graph below. In an ideal world, I would set it at 10 and 10 but restrict the age to 25-26, possibly 30 with exceptions granted
