  • Hey Guest,

    Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

    This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

    In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I have been pretty unwell mentally for a long time but now I'm starting to get physical pains too which I'm struggling to keep to a tolerable level , but meds my doctor gave me no longer works and it's pushing me over the edge.

I said to a friend the other day that we show more compassion to animals when we feel their pain and suffering is too much for us to expect them to live through so we end their life. I said to my friend that if ' I was a dog I'd get put down' I wasn't joking but she laughed anyway. Why's it funny that I'm expected to keep putting up with it all?

I don't understand why there is a massive stigma to a human ending their life when the pain becomes unbearable? But if it's a dog, then that's understandable.

people = confusing

Yes i agree, people often mock you for using that distinction but i don't know why. In comparison we live extremely long lives, not always with a quality of life though.

If society was accepting towards suicide, it would shatter the delusion that people hold that life is always worth living. Many people live in denial of the fact that things can get that hopeless that one would consider ctb. People who have not suffered in similar ways will never be able to comprehend what it is like. It is cruel how the society expects us to suffer for decades, even if we are in unbearable pain. We all deserve a peaceful exit at a time of our own choosing. It is true that people treat their pets as better than humans.

I fully agree on that. It is so cynical. I think religions are responsible for it.

It's human instinct. Survival is programmed so deeply into each of us that when one of us manages to override said instinct, it basically saying we reject the very core of our nature. The very thing that compels people to keep fighting and trying. To reject that, in a metaphorical sense, is basically rejection of life and therefore humanity as a whole. Not saying this is a bad thing obviously, just trying to explain it from the perspective of people who are opposed.

Religion is definitely at the root. For most of history suicide has been deemed a sin by world religion. It's the ultimate middle finger to their teaching. I grew up in Catholicism where the ultimate was to earn enough brownie points to get into paradise but bizarrely taking a short cut meant you went the other way. Religion hates people like us who think differently and are not within their power or fear. I respect the faith I grew up in but on this I disagree. Frankly religion is at the roof of most of the ills of our species but with the waning of its power I'm not sure anything worthwhile has filled the void.

Ah that's a nice explanation of it and I agree. I happily reject humanity as a whole. Humans are selfish and destructive and this planet will come to an end because of it

Fortunately for me the one upside to my parents parenting is instilling atheism into my blood stream

Yes. My poor grandma asked her care takers multiple times to just poison her. It was like that the last 5 years of her life. No terminal illnesses, just old age sucks that much. I think deep down my family was glad her suffering was over when she passed
