Is it a good method?

It's refreshing to see this method being discussed again.

I too would like to know.

Just practice hyperventilating until you pass out. Physical exertion helps, that's why it's best to actually swim & dive in a body of water

Why not use bag instead for suffocation?

Surely the body must once it takes on water become conscious again? As in when the lungs fill with water and you start to splutter and choke? Then that must wake you? I guess maybe by that point it might be to late.

No, the hypoxic brain can't regain consciousness, it needs oxygen to do that. People just faint, there's no dramatic thrashing about & choking. That's why it even happens in swimming pools with other people around. You die within 3 minutes unless someone immediately resuscitates you

Damn, sad it can happen to people by accident so easily
I may consider this method then
I've always enjoyed the water and swimming anyway so I don't feel uncomfortable in water. I even considered drowning myself initially, using weights but the thought of choking and suffocating as water filled my lungs put me off

Yeah, it happens to kids playing breath-holding games
That's the craziest part is here we are people who just want to leave this world and you get people who have no intention of Doing so actually ending up leaving this world. Madness. I guess when you play stupid games you can expect stupid results. I think I would slap someone doing this if they didn't intend on the results. -.-

Does this method only can be done in swimming pool? So you basically died from drowning as well right?(faint+drown)

I thought so too before thats why i consider it
but why do people say SI can make you do things even when hypoxic& unconscious? (OD+suffocating on bag or OD+drawn in bathtub)

i havent tried it so i didnt know
I need an answer for this too, I've been worried about it for a long while because it's relevant to hanging. I'm not confident in my knowledge, I want to know whether you can wake up even if the oxygen supply to your brain is completely cut off. Why do I wake up and find myself trying to save myself even after completely blacking out?

As I understand, when you only unconscious because of the OD and start suffocate in the bag the hypercapnic alarm response will be triggered. Same with drowning while OD. You must be in coma to succeed.

What will my SI do when I black out in the sea? Start extracting oxygen from seawater?

I just read more explanation. It seems this method only can be done in swimming pool so its basically drowning while fainting, is it?
so i guess its different than just suffocation only

I just edit my post. So its basically drowning in swimming pool is it? Not only suffocation/hypoxia?

it says shallow water i thought its in the bathtub......

but cant the person stand up? When in panic SI..? People say even when faintinfg&suffocating when SI kicks in they can walk :shy:

Yeas, this method differs from the simple suffocating/drowning, because of the hypoxia.

No, it's drowning after fainting
The title says shallow water i thought its in the bathtub like other thread talking about it......

It makes me wonder cause people say even when fainting&suffocating when SI kicks in they can walk :shy: :shy:

No person has ever regained consciousness on their own after blacking out in a body of water due to hypoxia. Every survivor remained fully unconscious until they were quickly resuscitated (it takes only 2-3 minutes to die of this)

Hopefully....
I read about it so its basically hypoxia(hyperventilate or holding breath, etc) right? Then afterward drowning finish the job.

can it be done in the bathtub or bucket filled with water(head burried down)?

I also cant grasp that it seems similar to hypoxia from sleeping pills+alcohol then bag suffocation but people say even when unconscious+hypoxia the body can move by itself :ohh:

Also what about partial/night2? It basically block the blood flow to the brain so SI cant kick in right? @Drimacus @hotelbeneathground

Also same question as @puppet_nihilist

bteath holding games reminds me of choking games and breath play. Many accidental death

With sleeping pill + plastic bag method the cause of death is not hypoxia, but asphyxia, which is different at it will trigger the hypercapnic alarm response even if you unconscious (source). As I said earlier one must be comatose to succeed with asphyxia methods.

But asphyxia happens first before hypoxia&asphyxia leads to hypoxia?
All a result of oxygen deprivation

Drowning cause asphyxia too.
then eventually anoxia(brain injury from lack oxygen)

anyway i think the difference is hyperventilation causing hypocapnia instead of hypercapnia?

This method almost seems too good to be true. It's probably even more peaceful than SN...

Exactly. Most often it occurs with trained divers who are good at holding their breath, but for the average person this method is almost unattainable.

Anyway i think the key difference is hyperventilation causing hypocapnia instead of hypercapnia?

The primary mechanism for shallow water blackout is hypocapnia brought about by hyperventilation prior to the dive.
Without the appropriate levels of carbon dioxide, the body fails to recognize the need for oxygen as it traditionally does.
This condition is called hypocapnia. The table to the right illustrates how individuals who hyperventilate develop hypocapnia and reach the blackout zone before experiencing the normal urge to breathe.
500px Shallow water blackout diagram 2 revised

Thay makes me think, can use hyperventilation to induce hypocapnia and cause hypoxia? Combine with other method
