Has anyone considered selling their soul to make their lives on earth less painless? Imagine no suicidal thoughts. No monetary issues. A partner for life. A happy ending. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

What do you mean selling your soul? Do you mean giving up all morals & ethics to have an advantage in the world. Or do you mean selling your soul to a fictional being who doesn't exist.

I can't sell what doesn't exist unless I become a pastor. Then again, I can get a happy ending at the massage parlor for a small payment.

When i was very young i did a seance to summon the devil and tried to sell my soul in exchange for super powers like telekinesis. I also tried to do time spells to go back in time. Took me until i was a teenager to realize this stuff isnt real

There's nothing to sell, and no-one to buy it. I don't mean this in the idiotic emo-teen "I don' even have a soul, maaaan." way. A "soul" isn't a thing, and even if someone is down to pretend and waste some money, you'd still have monetary issues. And you certainly wouldn't get a partner out of the deal.

I have a wonderful partner & it's not the key to happiness. It comes from within...I'm still trying to work that one out.

No, if it means some kind of eternal punishment. Or really even if it means compromising my morals here. Even if there was nothing after, I wouldn't want to hurt anyone else for my personal gain. I'd just take life up the tailpipe like I am now.

As others stated not really possible

In theory if it were possible, I had a soul that was going to live beyond this life and be punished for selling it?

Absolutely not. It's a trade of 50 years or so of an ok life for eternity in hell? hardly a bargain

I do believe in forces that we cant see that are beyond our current comprehension. Not sure about the selling of the soul as from a metaphysical perspective there are those who subscribe to the concept that your soul doesnt belong to you, its more like you are part of your soul which encompasses more than just the identity of your current life. That being said, in my studies I have come across books that contain instructions on how to supposedly contact and summon entities. Whether these things are "real" or not, it seems that this ultimate axiom still rings true: nothing in life is free.

I would add that there is the school of thought that trying to avoid suffering is missing the point of life which is to transcend suffering and to learn that there is grace in approaching suffering in a rightful manner. There is no life without suffering of some kind. How each person accepts(or refuses) to deal with that reality is the core of the matter.

You can accomplish this same exact thing by giving your life to Jesus. The same power that raised Him from the dead is available to you to transform and restore your life. That is what God is, restoration and new life, and that is His ultimate plan for us. I recognize this myself, but am in such unbearable pain that I'm choosing not to continue any longer. I'm completely overwhelmed, and exhausted. However, I trust in our Savior and the loving sacrifice He made for us, and accept His free gift of salvation and eternal life, so I can one day be resurrected and restored as He was when He returns to restore his creation and lift the curse of death and evil once and for all from us.

I like what you wrote here. Do you have any personal experience that made your research more substantial to you? If you want DM me, I've had experiences I'd share

If suicide is the greatest act of sin man can do against god, why are you choosing to do this? Why don't you pray away your unbearable pain?

Most religious nuts always tell me I'm going straight to hell for doing suicide...

You're not going to Hell, this is exactly why Jesus died for us and why He is so incredible. He offered us Himself so that even people like us who are in unbearable pain and take their own lives, may still be forgiven, and raised to glorious, incorruptible life again in God's Heavenly kingdom, despite committing supposedly one of the most grave sins against God. The only unpardonable sin is not believing in Him, because He's the only one who can save you and He went to His greatest effort already, so much as offering himself, and dying in your place. All you have to do is accept Him and ask for His forgiveness.

Proof that he died for us and came back from the dead?

Proof that a heavenly kingdom exists?

Even if true, if he died and then returned to life soon after, which was the sacrifice? Soinds like a minor inconvenience to me. Also, doing all that seems unecessary for an omnipotent being that should be able to have it done with a mere thought, no need for dramatics.

I would worry less about proof, and more on getting right with any potential creator of mine and my universe, who offers me eternal salvation. There's no cold, hard, factual evidence or proof that God doesn't exist either, so which would you rather choose? Eternal death or eternal life? Not the awful life that is full of death, suffering, and evil such as this one, but true life. Life that is full of bliss and happiness and free of suffering forever, with the curse of sin and death permanently removed.

Aside from that, you would think that already having Scripture with the supposed literal word of God who makes this promise, that is backed by a religion already followed by millions upon millions of people around the world, would be enough motivation to seek Him, when there is literally nothing of the sort on the other end of the spectrum.

...but sin and death do still exist. To me, this constitutes "cold, hard, factual evidence" that God does not exist.

Potential creator of yours and your universe? Please provide proof of said creator.

There's no cold, hard, factual evidence or proof that God doesn't exist either, so which would you rather choose? Eternal death or eternal life?

You keep saying you have proof he exists, which you claimed in that other thread, which you could not prove. You can't seem to grapple with the concept of providing proof that he does, so you try turning the tables.

You made the claim that he exists, and now the burden of proof is on you.

Not the awful life that is full of death, suffering, and evil such as this one, but true life. Life that is full of bliss and happiness and free of suffering forever, with the curse of sin and death permanently removed.

Again, please provide proof that such a place exists.

So, since you have no "proof" that he exists, why do you continue to ramble on about some fake character in the sky?

You have exhausted all your claims with no factual evidence that you once claimed you had.

Thanks for playing. Please try again.

But you said "evidence or proof," so I gave you what I considered good evidence.

I'd be happy to offer you "proof," though, if you're interested.
