Would you consider it selfish to attempt suicide at this time, considering the fact that the hospitals are overwhelmed with people dying "uncontrollably" due to covit-19?

I think it is not selfish. Memento mori I would say. We all have different destiny and who knows in which pain and suffering we may die when the natural death or death caused by illness comes.

Society always teach that suicide is selfish. But I'm against that kind of thinking, since some people doesn't understand the suffering of others. And will not being ashamed of our reasons. Perhaps someone are more comprehensive or supportive with terminal illness, and another reasons are "condemnable" or unjustified, but any human being is owner of their soul. I don't encourage to do it, because it's a crime, I'm only questioning the taboo around it.

See this is where I am confused, in some ways I believe it is as if you fail you are taking up a bed, but on the other hand this could be the best time as people are so wrapped up in this covid-19 that normal suicides will fall under the radar.
I also think method could potentially make CTB at this time harder. Depending where in the world you are and how locked down your country is

It's not selfish to do it during this time. Even if you don't, society will always see suicide as selfish, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Depends, if your friends and family really need you then it could be considered selfish. But that depends on how much your suffering.

Do they really need us though?
Depends, there is no one size fits all. It's all relative to how much we are suffering and how much they would suffer without us. If there are children involved in that's the worst case senerio.

I didn't say there is no ethical suicide of a parent. Again it depends.

im drunk thats gone right over my head,
As a parent I will say I am a selfish asshole, but I also know I am the shittest parent there can be, my children are my world, but trust me, they will be safer without me in it!
