Hi,

I wondered if anyone had tips or ideas for self care when about to CTB. I am quite stressed about it and booking a place somewhere as it's so important to not be found etc.

Personally, I think that if I was in a 'good' place beforehand, i.e. calm, rested, had enough sleep and so on, it would make it easier.

Does anyone have any tips on what could make this more gentle such as food, music. Given I will probably be renting some budget place.

Thank you.

Set it up so you have a couple days that you can be alone or with people you know will not interfere. You can tell the rest youre going on a roadtrip or vacation(whatever is near you). You can do it at home if you live alone and no one will check on you.

If you need to, go to an adjacent town or village that you havent been in awhile. Grabbing a random hotel room carries little risk. Lock the door and put the dnd sign out. From there it is up to you.

Good journey

It all depends on what you enjoy.
I would probably listen to classical music. That's what I do when I have to drive. It's very calming and usually not connected with bad memories like some more modern songs might be.

Having a bath?
Taking your favourite sweater or a cushion or even stuffed animal to hug. Whatever soothes you now or might have been comforting when you were little.

I might listen to an audiobook from my childhood when the time comes (and if I remember by then).

One last fancy Starbucks drink. With extra whip and sprinkles? Maybe having a picture of your pet or friends.

Obviously all these things may also make it harder. Especially if there is still the glimmer of enjoyment and with that hope.

Aww those are lovely suggestions!
I love classical music too.
Yes, those would make me not want to CTB, I think!

Wow, I never thought of doing this. I've not been able to listen to any of my music lately, since they remind me of certain people, places or situations. It all feels tainted now, so I'll have to try this out.

Yes, many of my playlists remind me of better times. Painfully so.
A trip to Spain.
A movie with family.
Dinner with friends.

Classical music doesn't do that - at least not for me. So, that's my go to now.
