It just appeared for me a little while ago. I think you just need to keep posting and it'll eventually appear in the top right of your screen.

If I'm not mistaken, I recall reading some time ago that's there's not a single magic number for any of the privilege thresholds. I think it's more a range of numbers, and when you fall into somewhere in that range, you will eventually gain access to things like search and PMs, &c. This could be completely wrong as I'm going off what is an undoubtedly damaged memory, but all I can recommend is engage in the community, and you'll get access to additional features. As far as communities go, I personally find it's a welcoming and comforting one, so there isn't anything to lose by engaging, posting, reading other people's experiences, sharing your own, and eventually gaining access to the features you seek.

I had no search bar for some time too. I searched by creating a post, because it suggest you similiar threads. It suddenly appeared, cant recall when and why :/

I just read in another thread for new members:
"Why can't I access private messages, chat or the search bar?
To do that, you need a certain amount of contributions - we can't tell you the exact number. It doesn't matter if those contributions are comments or threads, both count towards the threshold amount. Do not spam low-effort posts though unless that fits in with the nature of the respective thread (e.g. posts asking members to post in one word what they are feeling)."

Much like the search button you need to be a time served member (ie "x" months here) and reach a certain number of posts to gain access.

This information isn't advertised, you'll just see The Sanctuary appear one day in your board list.
