My attempt failed so now I feel like I have no choice. I really want to runaway. Like properly cut off contact from everyone and go somewhere. I'm a 20 year old without a degree so finding a job will be hard. But does anyone know in detail how to run away effectively and make sure no one finds you?

I don't know anything specific. I had thought about doing this a few months ago. I figured that I would at least need some kind of fake ID. But I have no clue where to find anything like that. ( I am pretty naive when it comes to stuff like that) I also figured I would need a little bit of cash and I would try to find simple job to start out. I really didn't think much further than that because it never came about. I'd be interested in hearing about what you find out.

You'd need a fake ID and other relevant documents, a new bank account registered under that (fake) name, a new car (new plates probably wouldn't fool the relevant authorities for too long), and of course you'd likely have to change your appearance a bit. Just to name a few...

It's not so much doing it that's difficult - it's the cost involved. Of course you can just take your stuff and leave and there's few legal cases where police would yank you back where you're running from, but they could find you very easily if someone wanted them to. It takes a great deal of effort & a high price tag to stay hidden.

Problems will follow you with you sadly. It's possible but you'd be totally alone an isolated an fedup imo . Friend of mine was a fugitive for a year over a case that was eventually dropped, but he was scared he panicked . In the end being away from Society dropping out slaughtered his mental health

Fuck man. That's so irritating. I don't understand why running away as an adult means the police can get involved. I wanted to runaway to another country quite far but I'm scared of my family. If I run away and fail I'll be done for.

Some excitement and being relieved from my family would be great. My mental health is in shambles and if it comes to it some of these countries it might be easier to find something for ctb or just end up murdered. Although as a woman there's a big chance of SA as well as murder, that part I'm most scared of.

Obviously there are many exceptions to this, and depending where you live different laws and jurisdictions may apply. I can only speak generally here.

Something to consider is that if you runaway there may be a big search for you. Especially if they don't realise you've ran away. This is something that put me off the idea, I don't like the thought of people searching for me, news reports or acquaintances and strangers analysing my life.
Perhaps informing the authorities before you leave may alleviate this but I don't know how it works.

Do you want to run away from your relatives/acquaintances? Or from the police?

If it's the first, then consider paying all your loans. Changing your name (+ middle name, surname, patronymic, etc). Moving to other city/country. Releasing a statement letter that will contain something like «i'm leaving for good, i'm in sound mind and i'm doing it willingly; please do not search for me (+ your signature)». (In Russia, we have a huge unofficial organization called Liza Alert that searches for missing people; if your country has something like that, you could probably contact them and say that you do not want to be found). And of course, you will need money, the more the better (as always). I probably have forgotten to mention something important, so you need to consult people more knowledgeable than me.

If it's second — well, good luck to you (gulag to you) (sorry 😝). Bringing this dream to life will require a connection to a loyal attorney, a tidy sum of cash or BTC, some good friends that will help you with, er, anything, and many, many more things.

bonus: some fun ideas that MIGHT be helpful (in no particular order!!!):
• «mcgyver» glasses (yes, the tiktok ones)
• some second hand clothes that are not in your style
• changing the way you walk (if needed)
• changing your home location to some, eeer, sketchy place? i actually have no idea how to solve this problem
• buying a new phone from someone that won't know who you are (i mean, not buying in a official shop), for cash
• resetting that phone's OS and installing something like PureOS or whatever
• leaving your old phone and old sim card to someone who will still carry them around and use them to make calls, visit sites, etc (yes, this strategy exists)
• buying new sim card from, yes, someone (not in a official shop ofc), for cash (yes, this exists)
• oh, i almost forgot this — leaving Google, Facebook and all this surveillance rubbish for good. say hi to onion browser, signal/threema messenger and duckduckgo
• sitting down, revising your skills (what do you do for living? what else can you do? is there a way for you to work in freelance, anonymously, for cash or BTC, without going to office?)
• changing your ID (but i have absolutely no idea how you would do that. i mean, yes, craftsmen from the darkweb can make you a ton of fake IDs, but will they look legit enough to a policeman, for example?)

In the u.s. there are people in all major cities waiting to prey on runaways- as soon as you start wandering around wondering where you will sleep or how you will get food someone very friendly may approach you and offer you these things, and then as soon as they have you in an isolated place attack you, chain you up, and now you are forced into sex slavery- this happens to both genders every day in the u.s. Some runaways find a way to get by on the streets but this can go bad very quickly if you trust someone and let them take you to a place where they can isolate you, like an apartment or a house. Why do you feel like you had no choice but to run away? If you are being abused mayeb a shelter can help, maybe you can crash with a friend or other relative- running away should be a last resort, it becomes dangerous very quickly.

I don't know where you are geographically based but maybe you could travel to the Mediterranean or the Caribbean and get a job working on a yacht traveling from place to place…
Perhaps a change of scenery would be inspiring… when you're 20 years old the world is a little more forgiving to nomads … you're not expected to have any developed skills or training …
That said, all of this can be scary when you're in a state of distress and despair. I was lost myself at that age. I travelled somewhat aimlessly for a year and did not much enjoy it. But others do. You might. Or at least feel some relief.

if you need any inspiration, you could watch a really good movie called «Gone Girl» (i won't spoiler the plot, but it involves changing someone's identity and running away)

but first, please remember that this is a work of FICTION (a kinda realistic one, but still) and second, surveillance has come a long way since then so it won't be as easy for you as it was for… nevermind.

Faking your identity is tougher these days and a last resort, but it can be done- there are several industries that depend on fake green cards, such as the hotel industry- so many housekeepers do this still from what I have heard working in this business for a long time.

In the US, you're good to go. All you would have to do is leave a note for your parents that you are moving away, not under duress, you are fine, and don't want any contact with them. Doing so would prevent them from reporting you missing to the police (if they did, they would be filing a false report and committing a crime.

You're going to need some money to both travel and get setup wherever you're planning on going. Realistically, like $2000 minimum. That would cover a plane ticket, food, shelter, clothes (since you can't bring all that much with you). for a couple weeks. Don't worry about being 20 with no education. In the US, Amazon, Target, and many other employers are starting at $15/hr. That's $600/week if working full time. More than enough to get place with a roommate, or even your own studio apartment depending on the area.

PM me if you want to discuss specifics. I've been to many places in the US, and can suggest a few with a lot of opportunities for work and low living expenses.

I'm still thinking over the details as well but I want to run away and start a new life more than anything…sometimes I feel like I'm too old though.

Leaving a note for family is a good start, but I think I would leave a note for authorities too. My mom is very controlling and would spin whatever narrative she could to keep me under her thumb so personally it's a necessary precaution.

For the rest, as someone without many skills/education I would think that starting small in a new town would be fine because you're young and people are more willing to give you a chance (serving and bartending come to mind first). Also, narrowing down any contact lists and then making your social media private if you have any.

Also, what plans do you have for transportation?

You don't need to leave a note. Just email your local pd and inform them you notified your mom. Make it very clear that if she reports you as missing, she is filing a false police report. Copy her on that email. That should keep her out of your hair. After that, you are under no obligation to ever contact her again.

I would love to do that but I have Russian citizenship so most Western countries are off limits to me unless I have visa. I've lived in England for a while but it's hard to settle here without a visa

Yeah my family is definitely the type to search for me and they have a lot of resources. I don't think someone's ever too old for something like that, if anything it's easier in some ways when u r older cos assuming u have skills and/or degree that could help u provide for urself wherever u go

You're in Russia and you want to disappear in Russia? You can try to become a teacher in a remote faraway village, i think, schools there are really understaffed 🤔 (But if you're not THAT suicidal, you always could just try to settle down in another city, of course)

Will they be really hellbent on finding you and bringing you home? Do they have connections in the FSS? Really good, solid ones? (if yes, yes and yes, you're fucked)

Omg I misspelled, I was so tired. I meant there aren't a lot of places I could just go and live indefinitely with a Russian citizenship. And not very good connections but some, and yeah they will be hell bent on finding me. My family are кавказцы, I'm sure u have an idea of how possessive they are over daughters

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkk. Yeah, i heard, кавказцы это пиздец… There are charity fonds (russian LGBT network for example; try to find them on Такие Дела). You could pretend you're a lesbian or whatever and tell them that your family threatens your safety (or something like this, i didn't research this). They can help you disappear!
