Help Room Ideas For Hikikomori Cave

In a previous post, I talked about not having a job, not going to school, etc. I'm 19, but I'm retired...I guess? I don't know. I receive disability (Veterans Affairs/100%).

Regardless, a month ago I moved into my own apartment. It's a one-bedroom. So far, I have a bed, dining table, couch, and TV stand. I plan on getting more furniture, but what else should I buy? For my...hikikomori cave.
I'm going to go to Walmart, but I know you can get a lot of cool stuff from the dollar store, too.

You might be wondering what's my inspiration. It's a little cringe, but I guess I want to live like an anime girl. Anyway, I'd appreciate any and all responses. It doesn't have to be anime-specific either. Anything to help with making the place more lively would help. :]

Aww not cringe at all, I think that's really cute! What are your favourite colours? I'd start by selecting one colour or a pair of colours you really like and get things in those colours: like curtains, duvet cover, pillows, a rug, etc.

If you like anime things, there's usually anime figurines and other anime merchandise on Facebook marketplace for good value, just second hand websites like that if you're looking to buy several things and not spend a lot of money. Some nice posters of your favourite anime characters would look quite nice on the walls. Fairy lights are something that always looks cute and brings a cosy atmosphere. Can't go wrong with plushies either! Maybe a nice cute night light, I've seen some online that are adorable. Really lots of possibilities to make your dream room.

you should definitely get some shelving. i'm not sure if you plan on collecting, but without a place to put it all, then you won't have a way to show off all the cool stuff you have.

You need a dakimakura. No hiki cave is complete without one.

Air filter. You won't always be able to open your windows for fresh air. It is a good way to keep your place smelling clean and keep allergies down if you have them.

i feel the same way!!!!!!!!!!
definitely get some cute curtains for your windows. and also a cute tea cup and saucer set! then anything you drink can be cutesy, no matter what's in the cup. you can also get a cute plate set with flowers on them or in a color you like. another thing i think is a nice lamp with a smart bulb in it so you can always change the color of your room :) do you have a favorite animal too? i have a rabbit plush and a rilakkuma plush. they keep me company even if i stay inside all day

also, you should buy some incense or candles! the ceremonial aspect of lighting something and having a nice smell fill the room is always comforting to me

Plants would add some life to your place. There are some that are easy to care for and only need to be watered once a week; succulents would be even easier to look after. Just pay attention to the toxicity if you own pets.

Seconding the color suggestion. It really makes things look more cohesive when most of it matches. And I think with how many things only offer black or white as options, having a theme in mind beforehand helps you not end up with a hotel looking room.

I really liked getting lamps when I moved in. Just the options for lighting and where it went was fun. Using one of those camping lanterns or a fancy lampshade really sets the tone.

Some anime figs could complete your silly cave hehe. Tho, those tend to be on the expensive side so...bootlegs are an option too I suppose, if you dont mind. You can get some items to display on the wall - particularly clothes or bags (purses, handbags, etc.) - and hang them up with a bolt or a screw! Also as I've seen someone else suggest, posters. You could try going to ur local library or department store and print it out there ! or buy online. You can also hang up some keychains around your room:3
