  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

So I'm looking at an air bnb to CTB in.
It seems likely that it'll be near or in a city. I don't drive and would maybe need to access food easily.

If I rented a flat in a city, would that be a good idea in terms of not being disturbed / SN? Anything that can go wrong?

Other options are rent a whole house (but often that's expensive and you'd still have neighbours), or rent a cabin (often at the end of a garden etc so less private).

I would have liked to go somewhere more secluded but don't drive

Note - My ideal thing is that it's in an area I'm familiar with even vaguely, that I can stay there a while (say if I have an attempt that doesn't work out, I can try again next day) and that it's not the owners main place where they live but just a place they rent out. Essentially to cause minimum trouble, I want it to be as un-traumatic as possible.

I think it's important to not be found. I guess having your own place is best, you never know, even if you walk somewhere secluded you could get found. Depending on method too.

One thing to keep in mind is that people who rent out airbnb's and renting out a property they have a lot of investment in and they are very careful of the property and look for anything suspicious. If one person is renting a whole house they could be very sispicious of this and refuse to rent and possibly post a bad review about you on air bnb. They obviously don't want to have a situation like this- when people die they usually leave a mess and they don't want this reputation anyway. For example if someone uses Sn there can be a big mess of vomit and poop and pee, plus it would need to be investigated by police, which could mean they can't rent for a while- they could have to cancel other reservations.

Thanks! Yes for this reason I thought maybe an apartment - one that isn't a main residence for the owners.

Does SN create any mess apart from… my body?

Sn can create a mess of vomiting, in some cases projectile vomiting that goes all over, though I don't think this happens in all cases at all. Dying by any means will create a mess of poop and pee- these will be released from your body. Putting down a thick plastic tarp could lessen the damage.
