There's just a certain level of irony hypocrisy and lack of self awareness when people claim "I know this is true" and their main reason for it is "because I just know it" and they do the same thing religious zealots do.
When rationally thinking people claim "I know this is true", they actually mean "the probability that this is true is close to 100%". Operating on absolute truth is just impractical, at least because our brain is too imperfect and our conclusions may be erroneous due to glitches. We can't be 100% sure in anything except maybe the most basic things like existence of our consciousness and memories. So people commonly make their decisions based on estimated likelihood of something rather than absolute knowledge.

Your claims that all knowledge systems are equally bad just because they are based on some postulates don't look valid at all when they are considered more deeply. The predictive strength of different knowledge systems is not the same, it depends on the amount and the quality of postulates. So one knowledge system may be much more superior than other with regard to the quality of conclusions we can derive.

The major difference between existing approaches to making conclusions about the reality may be observed in their success rate of making correct conclusions that may be verified. The typical patterns of thinking used by religious people commonly show a much greater rate of making wrong conclusions than the patterns used in the scientific approach, so it's possible to tell that the quality of different "belief systems" is not the same. The scientific approach proves to be more efficient at making adequate conclusions than other ones.

Sorry you feel that way. I'm religious, but for what it's worth, I don't think one religions is right over the other. I don't believe hell exists in the same capacity it's depicted in mainstream religions. It's not a competition for who builds up the most "god points." It's about helping others and making the world a better place than when you left it. Classroom, not a courtroom.

Then why not just say this instead? This isn't my hill to die on, I'm merely pointing out the commonality between religious people and those who use science essentially as their own religion. It's really just when people speak in absolutes and are absurdly evangelical and holier than thou about things that are merely theories, that is what I was referring to. The same thing religious people do. Yet for some reason atheists have a blind spot a lot of times and don't realize they're acting very similar

Where exactly did I claim this?
This is patently true given the gnu Atheist movement circles and contemporary Atheistic conventional "scientists" who frequent this same pastiche view.
I am looking at you "Darth Dawkins". These guys lack philosophical knowledge and metaphysics to even begin to make a cogent and comprehensive argument against the existence of God.
I think Dawkins works so well on people because he appeals to the ego. I was a very hardcore atheist growing up and then an atheistic satanist for a long time. Now I have very gnostic beliefs. I don't judge atheists but I look back at a time when I was one and I realize I was exactly what I was complaining about when it came to religious zealots. The lack of self awareness was incredible

I believe that most people's mental wellbeing would go away in case of loosing their religion. I still struggle with it to these days.

Because it's impractical to add disclaimers in every statement.

That's just common words with no real examples and no certainty about what subset of atheists is being considered.

Speculation on the necessity of postulates is not something new, and it's essentially the base of your ideas expressed in sentences like this: "when people claim "I know this is true" and their main reason for it is "because I just know it" and they do the same thing religious zealots do".

Religion is just copium to reassure people that karma exists and that good things happen if they act "good" instead of confronting the idea that life may be random, harsh, and unfair.

Religious people make me so mad. I just can't understand how they can say stuff like 'things happen for a reason' or that assisted suicide would be sinful. Oh yeah thank you so you think God wants me to suffer like this and be suicidal af for a reason? Which reason would that be? Only God should determine when you die wtf is this bullshit. I'm sorry if this is offensive for religious people but in my opionion it's complete bullshit.
There's nothing worse than an optimistic god freak. I feel sort of bad. They are likely gullible or in denial of the truth.
I respect all religions as an atheist myself but I believe people choose to have faith in god and heaven just so they don't feel as much grief when their close ones die. I too have a really bad experience with overly religious parents. I can't even begin to explain the rage 14 year old me felt when my mom found out I self-harmed and asked why I didn't think about how big of a sin it is and I don't appreciate god's gift enough, wishing she raised more religious kids.
However, this debate doesn't have much of an answer as religion is simply one's faith and usually can't be changed with a few points proving them wrong.
Yeah I agree. I went to Catholic schools growing up. Definitely felt and thought the same thing u said.
