I have everything I need to CTB using SN with slight variations since my legal prescriptions are for variations of the antiemetics and benzos in the PPH. My concern is that my insurance won't pay out and my estate ie surviving relatives will be left somehow responsible for any outstanding bills or hospital bills that come up from whoever finds me and tries to "save" me. I live alone, and don't have family anywhere near but don't want others to be hassled for years by bill collectors or collection agencies either.

If I go in a way that is deemed an "accident" I have accidental death insurance and life insurance that will both pay out enough to cover anything that would come up (which is set up in my estate/will) and possibly pay off some bills for family members that could use some help in this economy. I have a plan that is likely to have the success rate that the SN has that would appear accidental, would not injure anyone else, and would significantly increase the likelihood of the financial payouts.

It is a method that I have kept as a back pocket sort of idea for years and made sure that I rotated the supplies out regularly so that they didn't lose potency. It consists of taking a large dose of prescription tizandine (muscle relaxer that makes me very drowsy), add part of my "emergency" supply of zolpidem which is about 20 mg, my "emergency" supply of benzos which would be another 10mg of xanax, which are all meds that are regularly in my system so they wouldn't flag on a tox screen and wouldn't be so large of a dose that it would spike anything either, but all would make very sleepy if not fully unconscious take this all about 30 minutes before returning home from a late night at work where I have to drive over a long bridge that is not very well built to protect from vehicles going over (old rural road and hasn't been reconstructed since roughly 1970's) and generally no other traffic late at night. So I could all but knock myself out, drive off the bridge into the water with my window open guaranteeing that the vehicle would sink quickly and I would drown before help could arrive. I know, when I write it out it doesn't sound as simple as SN and will probably get removed from here but if you do read this am I missing major red flags for why this wouldn't work other than getting found to soon?

@kwhite44

Just being on this forum isn't helping your case. 🤣

Anyways, I suggest holding off until your suicide and contestability period pass, that way the manner of death will have no effect on your life insurance payout.

You need to clarify some things.

You say that you are concerned about insurance not paying out to surviving relatives.

You also say you are concerned surviving relatives will be left responsible for bills, medical bills, etc., if someone tried to save you.

You then go on to say that you live alone and don't have any family anywhere near...................

Are you in the US?

The only family responsible for any of your bills after death would be your spouse, if you are married. Marriage is a legal contract. I suppose some states still have that pesky "common law" type marriage thing.

As far as insurance paying out, I assume you mean Life Insurance? Or, do you mean Health Insurance? If Life Insurance, make sure you're past the clause that states they won't pay out for a period of X years, should the insured decide to kill themselves within that time frame. Some policies state they don't have to pay out at all if the insured commits suicide at ANY time while the policy is in effect.

As far as relatives having to pay your expenses after you die...................What? Like cousins? Aunts? Uncles? No one other than your spouse is on the hook for anything. Not even your burial expenses. Oftentimes, relatives do step in when someone dies indigent, but that is just out of the kindness of their hearts, not some legal obligation.

I doubt you'll be able to pull off the "accident thing" if committing suicide, so I'd forget about that payout.

I am not married, I got divorced many years ago. I have adult children that I am not close to and siblings that I don't speak with those are the individuals who would be surviving relatives. They aren't near, all live states away and yes I am in the US so when I say they aren't near the closest one in terms of distance is over 1,000 miles away in terms of contact generally once a year at the holidays the obligatory card or call

I'm not hung up on the payout I just thought it would be a benefit for them and at least my life would have been worth something to them if they got the payouts

They can still get the payouts, read your policy, nearly every state in the US has a suicide clause that mandates the insurer to pay out the life insurance benefit if you die by suicide after a certain time frame. In New York for example, that period is 2 years from the date the policy starts.
