Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Reaction "Scores" and Points, WTF?

OK, I gotta say something. I find it disturbing that we have points and scores and such on a goddam suicide forum. Don't we have enough concerns about this out there in the real world? People always eager for Likes on FaceBook and that sort of thing. Why can't we just rise above that here? Who the fuck seriously wants to be looking at scores and points when they are suicidal? It's actually a bit narcissistic.
I, personally, have had interactions with people in general chat who are real. I'm not saying the forums can't be real, but typically, it seems to me that we are giving people a whole lot of credit just for posting a LOT. They earn points or what the fuck ever just for posting? That is a bit fucked up, in my humble opinion. And often, those people don't even respond when you try to talk with them personally.
So, there. I stated my humble opinion.
Peace.

ps ~ If I start posting more in the forums, I do not give one shit about reaction scores or likes or being displayed on the main site as some kind of "influencer". It's just me being real. And I will always answer if you reach out personally.
I think I understand what you mean. I never was a fan of any kind of Internet points, likes, or scores either.
However, I think the system in this forum does not in itself promote the points as something valuable or desirable too much. Which is great! It means that people can more or less choose whether they find the points important. And if they do - they can post away to collect more points and maybe get some of that nice dopamine as a reward. And if they don't - they can just ignore the points and appreciate people for other things than their message:point ratio.
It's a nice aesthetic, I don't think of it as anything more than that. I would say abandoning the react system would just be choosing a different aesthetic, not "rising above" some system that promotes narcissism, because imo there will always be narcasscists on any kind of forum.

I like the reactions because unlike Reddit they have no real effect on what privileges or abilities anyone on this site gets. Plus it lets me signal to the person whose post that I've reacted to that their thoughts have been seen even when I don't have the energy to thoughtfully reply to them.

The real winners are those who have such fulfilled and happy lives they don't need to be on a suicide site at all. Seeing a number after your name on SS means you spend a lot of time here. I'm guilty of that and it's not a good feeling. I would rather have a very low number of likes and a happier life.

To tell you the truth, I don't give a damn about reactions and post score but I find it cute when they give me a heart or hug. I feel less lonely and alone.
I'll just keep on posting what I think and try to help as many people as I can.

I invisibly 'like' this post. I swoop in like ninja, no one will ever know. Hee hee heeeeeeeee. Taps fingertips together while side eyeing nothing in particular.
Some people think they seem more legit because they have made loads of posts and have a high reaction score, its really laughable. I mean if you believe what someone says because they have a high reaction score etc, or even because they have been on the site then that is stupid. there plenty of people that post complete BS that have been here a while or have even just joined. thats why its best to research. a good place to start is the resources section.
I mean you even have the people that post pictures of there 'supposed' self. no1 with half a brain would do that, so its quite laughable!!
