Have you found out anything more about this? I'm trying to decide wether to subscribe to the PPH essentials. They have an update in there about it but no idea how much information they provide.

Leland 18 g nitrogen cartridges 5/8" threaded $40 on Amazon EDIT: BUT I would order the nitrogen after the device arrives to verify that those are still the right cartridges to use. While it is unlikely, manufacturers do change things during production.

this sounds like a nice method actually, I'll tentatively add this to my top 3 of opiate overdose, shotgun, and this :o

The first and second versions had issues, so it would be good to have more information about the third revision. (Although I admit I am skeptical about this version too because of the sketchy track record of the previous 2 versions.)

So would it be possible to use this cartridge for the nitrogen hood method, too? It seems easier to buy than the big tanks.

Do not assume that. The volume of gas needed for the R2D ReBreather is unlikely to be the same as a hood.

I really don't get it why the search function is hidden until a number of comments are made.

If you go to their website and read the first page of their instructional PDF, it says you'll need one of the 18 g cartridges (argon or nitrogen), or three of the smaller 8 g ones (nitrous oxide) (using adapter).

i did read the site , but after reading here about apparent malfunctions of previous versions, yes, my enthusiasm is dampened.
I do hope we will soon get positive feedback on nr 3.

Dying by asphyxiation is a process: first you go unconscious and then your tissues progressively start dying from a lack of oxygen until so much dies that even medical intervention cannot save you. Problems arise when something intervenes after the process has begun but before it is complete: you took insufficient poison, the hanging rope breaks, you use too weak a handgun caliber, you survive the fall or here, a hero discovers and "rescues" you.

If you got three of the smaller ones, how would you attach them in a state of semi-consciousness?

Why would you be "semi-conscious" when filling up the gas reservoir?

I think you misunderstand how the device operates. You completely fill the gas reservoir bag and tubing before use.

I asked in another thread which gas to buy and they said either 1 x 18mg or 3 x 6mg... if you had 3, then you would have to attach them one after the other... surely it would knock you out and then not potentially be sufficient to kill you in the second scenario..

Oh using an adapter, that makes sense now. Also I'm not a chemist, but I've tried NOS.. I have never heard of that being a suitable gas before this... wouldn't the presence of oxygen slow down the asphyxia?
