  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

This is unrelated to suicidal thoughts but more philosophical

Are there any groups of people who are accepting of suicide as an option? Even if not suicidal themselves

I hate how everything is pro life and suicide is demonized

Well, there's this site.

Generally, in the West, suicide is not demonised, but it is viewed as a tragedy - a disproportionate response to changeable circumstances - unless the suicidal person is terminally ill. Assisting a suicide is more complex and is sometimes demonised, in part because at times what someone calls "assisted suicide" is actually murder that the victim didn't consent to.

If you want people who are broadly more accepting of suicide, then look for humanist, secularist, and liberal groups, as well as groups that specifically campaign on assisted dying.

I don't think peope are pro life when it comes to suicide. They're pro, "This makes me really uncomfortable and thus my suffering currently outweighs yours so you should stop doing the thing that is stressing me out."

I'm all for choice. People should be allowed to be pain free and people shouldn't add to the mental burden by making the person feel worse for wanting to ctb.

Nah, most people aren't accepting of suicide as an option. Even the so called "right to die" groups aren't right to die at all because they want to ensure that maximum restrictions are in place. The people who are most accepting of suicide as an option would be this site but even here there are different levels of what constitutes as an acceptable suicide or not. Personally, I think that the right to no longer exist should be a right to everybody regardless of whether they are a minor or not and they should be allowed to die peacefully regardless of what reason they have. I genuinely can't fathom as to why people want to place restrictions upon suicide. I just don't see how life is that valuable or precious for us to want to keep people alive at all costs. At the end of the day, life is pointless and it doesn't need to exist

Have you heard of Christianity? 😆 Largest religion in the West and is very strongly anti-suicide.

There are fewer and fewer adherents of Christianity in the West. Even most of those who call themselves Christians no longer rely exclusively on it for their moral compass. They may or may not occasionally go to church, in between growing rich, eating shellfish, and being cool with queer folk.

In the UK, 73% of people support the right to suicide in some situations, compared to just 13% who are always opposed.
