  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I wish I was pro lifer.
It's strange that you're afraid of pro lifers. This is a free forum, everyone has the right to express their opinion, including pro lifers.

Thank you for your opinion about my behaviour, but I think you overestimate my activity on this forum.

Telling the unpleasant truth doesn't equal to spreading fear, people deserve to know the risks they may face. It is much worse to create and propagate a false positive image of poison, as some do.

SN is a poison and not Nembutal. According to posts and medical articles, SN can be painful, cause suffocation, and damage organs. It can also be painless, not cause suffocation, and not damage organs. Everyone reacts differently. I think it's a simple enough idea to understand.

But still there are people who believe in the infallibility of SN, just as children believe in Santa Claus. And they get upset like children (crying and stamping their feet) when they are told that SN is not so beautiful.

I will not respond to new comments, as I wrote everything I wanted, and further discussion does not make sense.
"
The dictionary definition of suffocate:
Definition of suffocate
transitive verb
1a(1) : to stop the respiration of (as by strangling or asphyxiation)
(2) : to deprive of oxygen
b : to make uncomfortable by want of fresh air
2 : to impede or stop the development of

Used in the vernacular, if you ask most people to imagine or describe what "suffocation" feels like, they will imagine either holding their breath for an extended period of time, having their head in a plastic bag, choking, etc. These sensation of "suffocation" is not due to a lack of oxygen, but rather to a buildup of CO2.

I'm trying to answer the question I assume people are asking. Does SN intoxication produce the same feeling that one would encounter were they to be unable to breathe? The answer is no in the same manner inert gas exit bag does not either."

If you'd like to speak about suffocation let's change the topic over to hanging.

Edit: thank you @freelifexit you're just trying to be helpful.

Maybe you're right- I suspect both law enforcement and the odd pro-life group does have it's eye on the forum. Still, I don't think it's unreasonable for even the ctb minded to show concern over a method. When you consider that (apparently) there are 25 ctb attempts for every 1 success, it's not a straight forward thing- obviously- we're all still here. Plus, the consequences of failing some methods can be terrible.

Think the difficulty comes when members ask- 'Will this fall/knife/medication definitely kill me?' Or- 'Which is more likely to kill me?' Problem being that there are huge numbers of variables with any attempt. It doesn't feel all that responsible to say- absolutely definitely- it will work.

I wouldn't have thought people could survive a jump from the Golden Gate bridge but they have. Also thought a gunshot wound to the head would do the job but that CAN go wrong. All I guess we can do is refer to the megathreads as to the best chances of success for each method.

Obviously, the majority of us are worried about our chosen method and I suspect come here to build confidence on it working. Still, seeing as I doubt that many of us are experts or have access to all the data, it's not easy to give the answer the person wants to hear- 'You don't need to worry- this will 100% work.'
Noone ever said that but some people coming up with SN does this SN does that without any proof maybe they are referring to and I won't say everyone who said SN fails is a pro lifer or everyone who wanted to tell SN can do damage was a pro lifer but it doesn't change that there is atleast one pro lifer here so there post is valid. I haven't found a pro lifer trying to save me yet but I may and I hope I meet one atleast so I really know they are trying to do their work because this forum actually needs them we don't need help but they are failing to do what they need to and ought to if they don't come here because suicidal people are here but pro lifers you can't really help keep trying because words won't work but atleast keep doing your work and let the other people continue to keep doing their work so we all get paid. Are you serious? Tbh I don't think this is something to joke about

To be honest I have no issue with @freelifeexit. I'm on the site a fair bit and never even noticed their posts. I'm disinclined to start labelling people as prolifers and trying to incite a mob mentality against them on that basis. Here's the thing. There are plenty of resources as well as some documentation regarding SN on this site. All of us should diligently research our method and look into the pros and cons. Critical thinking at all times!

Furthermore. There is currently no failsafe method, even with N things can go wrong. And ctb/death is scary and unpleasant let's face it. Should it really be news that failed attempts can have serious consequences, etc. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something, just my 2 pence.
