a hospice for the dismissive, entitled, virtual-signaling, puffed-up charlatans that seem to plague so much social media today

edit: i don't agree with the work in question, but the responses seem bereft of any sound argument, and simply rely on old dogmas which we've all heard time and time again

I agree that Reddit users tend to be dismissive and virtue-signalers when it comes to mental health problems, depression and suicide ideation. But what do you expect when Reddit has a content policy that forbids users from posting content that encourages, glorifies, incites, or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual including oneself? This policy heavily skews the Reddit content to one side. Reddit doesn't want to burn its fingers to questionably immoral content.

Small note, the top comments in the linked Reddit posts are jokes — some making light of Heisman's suicide. After all, Reddit is more often seen as a source of entertainment than a platform for critical thinking.

Do not post content that encourages, glorifies, incites, or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual (including oneself) or a group of people.
Post containing imagery or text that incites, glorifies, or encourages self-harm or suicide.
Post that requests, or gives instructions on, ways to self-harm or commit suicide.

top comments too… i don't expect people to understand why someone would commit suicide, but i find it so invalidating and disrespectful to not respect his motivations, idk.

Redditors love to bloviate. I don't know what it is with them, but they seem to collectively enjoy rehashing sanctimonious bullshit that they know will score them internet points with their uber-vanilla peers. It's like they're continually trying to out-cliche each other.
