• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I am curious to find pro ana forums, similar to this one that is active. I have found a few but they are kind of bland and inactive.
Let me know if you know of any please :))

Disgusting. Things like anorexia or other eating disorders shouldn't be encouraged. I used to have anorexia and I won't want to put that pain onto anyone. The constant hate for your body, the guilt from eating, the exhaustion and hunger you have to go through. I can understand a pro-choice forum for eating disorders as its hard to recover from and some people may not want to but there shouldn't be any pro forums for it.

Edit: if you do want eating disorder related threads, here are 2 of them:

please let's not bring that pro ana era back. the ramifications were vast. it always has these cycles of reoccurrence or contagion clusters WITHOUT HELP. (ie Tiktok etc) we don't need a forum that kids could run across saying, do x instead of eating, do x to not be hungry etc.

I am diagnosed with Ana and I would never want someone to develop this if they can at all help it.

no disrespect OP. I heavily relate and understand why you may be seeking those spaces. maybe we could make a resource ED Support thread? spitballing. 🤍🫂🤍🫂

What's the pro-ana era? Can I get a quick rundown?
early 2000's, sites like live journal, xanga, tumblr, and many independent forums which are now gone. they were filled with things like "100 things to do to not eat" etc. endless "thinspo" etc

I have to assume there are some write ups about this very major time online, prob more info available from those articles. it was rampant.

I wouldn't reccomend them either. I used to lurk in pro-ana groups back when I was mentally fucked up (don't judge pls, I wasn't mentally right back then, istg) and people would litterary help each other starve to death. These groups are made by mentally ill and/or manipulative induviduals who just wants to have control over people. It's disgusting and dangerous. Pls don't! I understand if you don't want to recover, but please try not to make things any worse for yourself if anything. Wouldn't wish that upon anyone.

!!!!!!

This is so important. there was definitely a manipulation factor. I don't doubt it's still out there somewhere but the most known forums and sites are gone, as it stands. social media doesn't let you search certain terms etc anymore bc of how bad it got.

also ED's forums and so on, if it involves numbers, becomes competitive by nature. which obviously is not a good thing.

I used to be on one, haven't been on it for years, because I was trying to get better.

It's like this site - it has many sections, including recovery, many different eating disorder sections, mental health and what not. It was also like this site in terms of support, but also come can be encouraging, others not - a very mixed bag.

When I first found it, it was VERY encouraging, but after a while, it got a lot of bad press (much like this site), and so it must've added recovery etc, and from there, it seemed to be more support based.

And unfortunately new users 'wanting' an eating disorder, because they thought it was 'cool' - I think deep down, that wasn't the reason, they were struggling badly, and they wanted to 'fit in'. Yes, I know how messed up that is, but when you're very young (teens etc) you want to fit into the world, so I understood it, but I didn't encourage anyone, I was supportive.

I was struggling myself so badly with my eating disorder (a lot better now but still there - always will be), but I came off the site for good (very gradually), because I found it very 'triggering'. I sometimes contemplate rejoining, because I have no one to talk to about it. I still might, I don't know. Don't hate on me, I'm a grown adult, I make my own decisions, and as I said, it's more supportive than not now.

I think I know which one you're talking about. I'm on it. And yea, it can be triggering, and some people on there shouldn't be there. But I find it supportive rather than triggering. It's not like back in the 2000s. There's no tips. No encouraging of starving to death etc. The ED online world has changed for the better. I think that board is for eating disordered people what SaSu is for suicidal people.

There's edtwt and this big one for various eating disorders but I can't remember the name. I'd say to stay away from that because what's really the end goal? You may end up like a skeleton if that's what you want but your body will start to eat itself, you won't have energy to use your brain or body at all and it won't be pretty when your hair starts falling out in clumps and skin deteriorates from lack of nutrients

ex-bulimic (with a frequent habit of relapsing), and i seriously cannot recommend going on any pro-ana forums. the worst i know of that's still running not only requires you to send body checks as proof you're underweight, but it also is rumored to be run by a fetishist, so your body checks are going to that kind of person. i would argue these spaces, especially edtwt (lurked on there on and off since 2021; there are so, so many fetishists, minors, and more fetishists who prey on said minors), can be so much worse than what the media likes to pretend sasu is

there are at least 2 boards i know of that are the ed equivalent of sasu (i know exactly which one the people on here are referring to, i lurk there myself), and some that are way back from the 2000s and with a much smaller user base that you really have to dig for. these are likely much safer than something like edtwt, and not inherently pro-ana, but i wouldn't recommend them, as for the reasons said by everyone above

i'm sorry if this seems disrespectful, i'm more than certain you can handle yourself, but if you do decide to use these forums (the pro-ana ones, not the ones about ed's), please be more careful than you might be on here. a lot of people say "you don't know who you're talking to online" out of paranoia, but for pro-ana forums especially, that advice actually applies
