I'm currently writing a list of things I need to do before I CTB. I want to make things as convenient as possible for my family, and here's what I have so far:
  • write will
  • write letter
  • write care instructions for my dog
  • clean/organize house
  • clean car
  • cancel all subscriptions
  • throw out perishable food
  • factory reset phone
anything else I should add to my list? also, anyone know how to make a will official without involving a lawyer? I don't have much money or many belongings, but I want everything to go to my sister. so it doesn't need to be a long and fancy will.
while I'm writing, here's my plan so far for CTB: once I buy a gun, I'll drive to a fairly remote location at night, preferably a peaceful wooded area. when I'm ready, I'll text 911 my location (so they can contact my family quickly so someone can take care of my dog and he isn't left home alone), factory reset my phone so I can't chicken out and call for help, then shoot myself. I won't be shooting myself at home as I don't want my family to find my body, and crime scenes are insanely expensive to get cleaned up.

anyone have any tips on my plan? I know it's risky doing it outside my home, but I'll do it in the middle of the night and make sure no one sees me with a gun.

I think you got everything ok , for the will , i think it depends on your country , google handwritten will and the name of your country , this is what i got here where i live ;

I got mine in my apartment just in case i die by accident or ctb.

Seems like an already lengthy list for CTB in my opinion.

Ones death should be prepared in the way they see fit though so if you feel you've done enough or don't want to do any of it that's truly your decision to make.

Hope everything goes well, best wishes.

Unfortunately I don't have much advice on the will. But overall your plan seems well thought out. Plans vary drastically from individual to individual but from my perspective your bases seem to be covered. I'd make sure your not forgetting anything sentimental like an additional letter to someone specific separate from the CTB letter, of course that's just me thinking out loud and is in now way particular to your situation, just a thought. Also what type of gun if you don't mind me asking? I only ask because that will definitely affect the way your body looks in terms of trauma, of course it depends on location of wound as well. Which is something you may want to think about further. I wish you all the best, safe travels friend, I'm here for you.

That sounds both detailed and thorough to me. I think that as long as you feel satisfied with what you have, then it should all be okay. Just as a personal note in case you're trying to think of things that you may want to do, I know that I'm potentially going to send individualized messages to the people who mean the most to me (a handful of my friends) because I'm not planning on leaving anything else.

If you want, I do think it's a consideration to leave behind passwords to anything you want to be usable and/or open-able without you there. Since you're planning on a quick discovery, I don't think it's incredibly important to do anything like unplugging everything in your house and/or cancelling or disconnecting certain household services (water, electricity, internet, cable, landline if you have it, etc) you no longer need. In fact, I'd probably advise against doing big things like that so as to not draw attention and/or suspicion.

Everything else seems to be well thought out, though, and I wish you the best of luck with buying your ticket for the bus.

I spent today gathering old photos I've taken on my own to put in a specific Dropbox with a password I'm going to leave behind, so my mom and brother can access them easily. Someone else also said leaving your account passwords behind, this is also a good plan that I implemented in my own will letter, so things like my Facebook can be switched over to memorial easily without much trouble from them. I have a court case where I have to testify as victim first in a couple days so if I don't hear back, not sure where the bus lets us off but I hope to see you there.

yes, I'm planning on writing a separate letter for my parents and sister too with some personal stuff! thankfully I'm not close to many people in my life so there aren't a lot of goodbyes I have to say before I go.
I'm not entirely sure what gun I'm getting yet; I know shotgun is most effective but I'm worried about keeping it hidden especially since I'm taking it outside of my home. I'm still researching if there are any smaller guns I can get that will work as well as a shotgun because surviving a shot to the head would be a nightmare.

Just about any gun can kill you, a shotgun is just prefered because of the high amount of energy imparted on firing, the size of the shelling and ease of access. You can get similar results with a 500 magnum, which is much smaller, but are significantly more expensive than a simple mossberg 500 or remington 870.
