• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Suppose you met someone from a New Age cult who believed that suicide was a doorway to higher dimensions, and they promised they could provide you with means for a peaceful death with 100% certainty. Would you be willing to join the cult just to gain access to means to commit suicide?

Some additional background:
  • They are an international, well-connected organization and they can easily obtain N or any other drugs you could ask for. They also have their own version of the Sarco pod if you choose inert gas instead.
  • They are funded by donations, so you are suggested to pay a certain amount based on your income but it's not required.
  • There would be a 3 month waiting period before you could CTB. They would expect you to learn some basics of their theology during that time.
  • When the time came to CTB, they would send a nurse to your home or to a hotel to make sure it was successful. They would have multiple backup methods on hand, so there would be no possibility of failure.

Absolutely, especially if they have a sarco pod or N. Hell, I'd even accept SN if they also provide Meto and all the stuff needed for SN as per the guide. This would be a dream come true tbh.

If after the 3-month waiting period, I could decide on my own when I was ready, then yeah totally. I like the idea of someone being there as well.

No. Something doesn't sit right about pretending to accept their faith when I probably wouldn't. I'd feel like a fraud. Almost like I was exploiting them somehow.

Seeing as how it's usually the other way around, cults that exploit their members, maybe it could be viewed as payback but still, not sure. Maybe if I agreed with their beliefs but, I very likely wouldn't. A sense of community does sound nice but I suspect it would be even more unfair than the one we find ourselves in now!

Plus, a whole load of other manipulative behaviour goes on in some cults. You suddenly find you need to have sex with whoever they tell you to. They want you to sell all your stuff and give them all your money. They expect you to worship some narcissist (most likely.) Stuff like that.

Everyday life is manipulative enough! I'm not taking orders from a narcissist again! As someone who believes they have all the answers and have the right to be followed and worshipped- what else could their leader be realistically? Maybe you'd get you're freedom eventually but, you'd be an utter slave on the run up- surely? I'd rather live as free as I can for now and die on my own terms.

If that could be true, it sounds like heaven, but we are on earth closer to hell. I'd rather die in my sleep. Tonight it didn't happen though I prayed for it.
Tomorrow is another day.

I think I would but the 3 month wait seems a bit iffy, what are you expected to do in that time? If something seems too good to be true there's probably a catch right?

A three month waiting period and I have to learn their theology? Sounds like another religious group trying to control who gets the right to die and who does not. No thanks. I will stick with my rope and my freedom to die when and how I want.

Considering my background with religious trauma, it's iffy, considering you have to study their "religion"... Even if I don't believe that stuff I'm sure whatever fucked up part of my brain that causes psychosis would convince me it's real and that I'm sinning by doing mundane things and/or being watched and judged constantly, or the old christian psychosis would rear its ugly head and I'd be convinced god was going to toss me in hell to suffer for all eternity for consorting with these people... plus there's the possibility they'd want me to hurt others and that's a no-go. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. But if there was no religion involved and they just genuinely wanted to help people who'd exhausted all other avenues to die a peaceful death of their own choice, then absolutely.

Definitely not.

For starters, I do not want any genuine, reasonable, and well-intended suicide committed for a very good reason to be linked to a cult in any way. That would be an easy way for ill-intended people who do not agree with others to have an access to euthanasia to write sensational news articles and to smear the movement which tries to make that happen even more than it has been described in a bad way up until this point. So, I would rather sacrifice my easy access to N just so that I would not, in any way, help accidentally promote any cult out there or to make suicide look even worse in the eyes of the public compared to now.

And also, I am not sure I would really like to put my trust into any know cult, or to risk meeting its members in the process of trying to obtain N.

Hence, I chose the option of not wanting to involve myself with a cult.

The bullet points don't list the sex abuse or forced separation from family and money stealing that most death cults utilize, so LFG. I've worked full-time jobs, I can BS my way through three months and a few theology lectures, and who knows, maybe they're right. (If only because nobody else knows what really is on the other side of the veil)

everyone hates religion until it offers you a way to die. cults are messy things. you gotta be indoctrinated and wait 3 months, probably do weird shit. and after all that who's to say they haven't made up some rule that says actually you aren't allowed to kill yourself for x reason and now you have to do y thing. sooner or later you're brainwashed and spreading the gospel and getting innocent people hurt. no thanks. i'll take my freedom to die by my own hands
