For me clearly Christmas. I like New Years because I celebrate it with my friends. And I pull in my favorite gacha game on New Years. I hate, hate, really hate christmas it is the feast of love. I don't have a partner and my family has done this to me. It is very hard to cope with.
Christmas is worse because it emphasizes forced positivity wayyyyyy more than New Year's. At least with the New Year, many people are more likely to be rightfully cynical and acknowledge that even New Year's resolutions are mostly BS.

Both are equally bad for me. Too many traumas and shit I relate to both somehow. That and having to act happy and exited while watching everyone else have fun wishing I were actually able to take part in that. I feel like I'm missing out and it hurts.
I'd say New Years is worse to me mostly because seeing the +1 year date as the current official year feels too sudden. Even though Christmas is only a week before it still feels like the next year isn't for a while.

They are equally hard. Christmas is difficult because you have people constantly talking about how happy they are, buying gifts and being with family. All that sounds wonderful, I just don't want to hear it! My biggest challenge is my co-workers seem to believe everyone has this perfect life and they want to invite you into their conversation and ask for your plans?
Then comes the awkward silence and you have to make up some big lie to be equal with them. I wish people could understand that everyone don't look forward to the holidays and everyone does not have a family. Then you have the post holiday questions, what did you get and blah blah, it never stops.
I picked new years as the worst. The thought of entering another year is unimaginable. I barely made it through this year. As the new years get closer, I'm very anxious, physically sick, and just wish I could sleep through it. Then new years eve comes and everyone starts wishing you happy new years and I can't stand it. I usually turn my phone off completely on new years eve and new years day. Luckily I just have to lie for Christmas to fit in and new years I'm off.
Christmas is worse. It's the family gatherings for me, I just can't stand them. Having to play a character because the real me would disgust everyone there. New Year's eve is a bit more casual from my experience, and drinking helps.
i wanna celebrate new years with my friends but theyre all busy irl sooo- yea im pretty much alone
in xmas it was okk until my friends had family to deal with soo yeaa
Christmas as I am obligated to spend it with family that I do not like. New Years is always fun for me because I get to spend the day by myself watching fireworks from around the world.
My biggest challenge is my co-workers seem to believe everyone has this perfect life and they want to invite you into their conversation and ask for your plans?
Being able to celebrate Christmas with family doesn't mean that one has a perfect life. Most people struggle in some capacity throughout life and some of those co-workers may have even had a worse life than you but you don't know because they are just your co-workers. Hell, functional families are the minority, with most families being dysfunctional in some capacity.
In Polish culture you're free to spend the New Year's Eve as you please so you can stay home. And you're forced to spend Christmas Eve with distant family that you don't like.
I hate all holidays equally. To me, each day is just another day of living a miserable life. New Years just reminds me of another year wasted, and another one coming.
