So this might be a really stupid post but I just wanted to ask anyways. what's the chance of dying by hemlock, is there a certain amount that needs to be consumed? Is that a dumb way to ctb 😭? I live in the UK so we have a lot of hemlock forming all over the place during the summer. I've known its poisonous and that seemingly every part of it is poisonous to consume so I've always been really tempted to try it but I haven't because I don't know enough about it. I know it'd most likely be painful and I would rather ctb without pain when I do, but it's so accessible that I cant help but think about it. I don't know if anyone has ever been documented to attempt this anywhere I've researched a little but not much. If anyone has any information on this it would help out a lot.

I believe it's basically suffacation, the more you take the faster it'll be. Generally pretty painful not recommended unless you want a sure fire way to die. Hemlock was a popular assassination poison back in the old days like medieval times. You still want at least an hour where you can say for certain you won't be found. I did find a report saying someone lived for 5 hours after ingestion. They did boil the plant which is known to cause poisonous compounds to becone weaker and less effective.
You can research by asking AI then checking the sources it linked.

I tried hemlock twice now. First time I ate approximately 2 cups worth of stems, flowers, and leaves. The affects came quickly, first my lips tingled like numb, my eyes couldn't focus, my legs couldn't support my weight, my arms were heavy, and my breathing slowed down. I fell asleep thinking it was the end, but woke up 4 hours later with a gasp for breath.
Second time I used a mortar and pestle to grind about 4 cups worth of stems, flowers, and leaves. I then soaked that in cold water for about 3 hours. I strained the plant matter out and drank the juice. Same affects as the first time. I woke up in the morning.
It's been dry here lately so maybe the hemlock didn't have as much coniine in it. I also picked towards the top of the plant, that might have had a difference. I'm going to dig the roots of greener plants after it rains this weekend and soak in hot water until it cools.
It tastes like carrots vaguely, not terrible. My body smelled like the plant for about a day after both times despite showering lol.

thanks for sharing, it helps a lot hearing an experience from someone who's tried it first hand lmao i haven't really ever heard of a lot of people attempting ctb with hemlock. waking up from that both times sounds like hell. if you don't mind me asking, how bad was the pain on a scale of 1-10 while it happened (if there was any)? did you just wake up with no lasting effects or did you need medical assistance for your body to fully recover from the effects after waking up?

I was inspired by Socrates. I've considered myself akin to a philosopher and the idea of a Philosophers death intrigued me. There was no pain at all. Slight muscle cramping in my leg but that's it. When I woke up it was normal, no after effects at all aside from my body smelling like hemlock lol.

thats so interesting lol, from everything I've read i expected it to be fairly painful, though technically unconsciousness is also a symptom. glad you woke up alright even if it failed. I wish you the best of luck if you plan to try this again. As a silly question, how bad was the smell? hemlock is often cited to smell like mouse piss when crushed so just wondering if its true and how bad it is lmao
