I'm 36m, been out of work three years due to illness and burn out- had to move back in with my mom to survive. Before that I was successful in a six figure career.

I'm such a loser, please someone tell me I'm not the only one who has been in a similar situation.

I have no clue how to even start to get back to anything. The job market is in the trash for IT and no one will accept my gap despite being very knowledgeable and up to date on tech.

Please someone make me not feel alone.

I'm not making money in tech anymore either, but I was late to the party and never really got much money out of it.

I was considering switching careers but kinda burnt out. Tempted to ctb once my savings run out.

But hey maybe you've got a talent or hobby you can monetize! Or you can teach tech?

This article may help, I wonder if listing the gap as "2023-2025 (Sabbatical)" may help or not, idk.

I'm just a student studying for my Bachelor of IT, didn't pass some courses so will be redoing them (and hopefully learning time management along the way)

Ugh I'm sorry you're dealing with that.

I might ctb, I've taken steps- got my generator modified to not shut off when carbon monoxide rises, hopefully the old CO in the garage method works.

Life is really shit.

Yay we get to ride off into the night together! I imagine the bus is like the one in My Neighbor Totoro. A furry version of the one Mrs Frizzle rolled with.

Not the only one, age 64. Had a decent job until May of this year - had 2 houses ( 1 fully paid for ) in one state had to leave due to health problems and relationship issues. Can't seem to function daily due to health issues - my life has been decimated and I can't see a way to change it. I am well aware that much of the responsibility lies with me as I made some bad decisions.

Staying with friends hoping SN arrives and that I have the strength to do it. None of us are alone - I hope we all find peace.

I hope the bus doesn't exist and I can finally be at eternal peace. I don't want an afterlife no matter how great it may be. I want it to be the way it was before 1988, nothingness, just a complete lack of anything, non existent.

I think it probably is like that, but I'm in a silly mood. I think maybe accepting my own death is making me feel relief?

I'm sorry you're feeling so not at peace RN. You've at least helped me feel a lil less alone today.

I'm years younger, but I've been unemployed for two years now--- no college just a hs diploma. I have zero money to myself and my parents are nice enough to still keep me under their roof. I don't drive, too scared I'd hurt anyone. I'm a bum and I never leave home.

Actually.. I think here is the right place to vent about something that happened to me today. I am, like others here - and you, in the same boat.

I didn't earn six figures, but I did have a decent income and a very reputable job. It was something that made me feel "significant".
Now I am not longer there, already 2 years, 3 months.
I am now at a "rehab job" from the government for 3 months and my income is basically nothing. Today was payday and I had to cry on my way home because I couldn't stop thinking about this shitty life I have now. Depending on government, getting paid less than 10% what I used to earn. I failed so much in life. I hate it so much, I just wanna give up already.
But it's so hard....

I just wish the powers to be would listen to us and legalize assisted suicide. I reply to every congressperson and person of power on X(Twitter) who posts complaining about people needing to "get a job" "stop being a loser" to just legalize assisted suicide already then and let us solve the problem.

Obviously we're losers and not worth the air we breathe so let is out instead of keeping us prisoners.

For several years, yes. I started in a local telecomm company, then Xerox, then Accenture and my last work was in Nestlé.

Long time ago tho 😅

riches to rags but not exactly the same story. i ran my own business for a few years, was never making six figures but I had a very comfortable life before my psychotic break. i moved in with my grandma and then she fell and my parents sold her house. none of my family care about me enough to give me a roof including my parents. 30 now with job/apartment but ive been walking the line of around 100$ in my bank account for almost a year.
