Maybe people are misunderstanding the stickied post which says it's against the rules to link to sources. (https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/an-important-reminder-about-sources.82413/)

But they are talking about an entirely different kind of sources. They're talking about sources to where we can acquire ctb tools like SN.

So many thread starts and posts, people are sharing info about how a method is properly done but they never share any source. It seems like there are very few people who understand what a huge problem this is.

Everyone here is somewhat anonymous, so if some person for example says "Actually, the correcct way to tie the knot is like this..." then how are we supposed to know that they are correct? They are just a stranger who could be saying anything or who don't know what they're talking about or maybe they made a mistake in their own research.

One time I shared some info and just because I shared the link to my source, someone else was able to fact check and see that I made a mistake in my research. If I didn't share my source then people could have thought I'm right and I myself wouldn't have learned that I was wrong.

So reading a thread and seeing lots of strangers posting about how they think something is supposed to be done the correct way is completely meaningless and unhelpful. When it comes to research about methods then we need to do it scientifically and always share our sources. How were we able to come to our conclusions about the correct way of doing something?

It really is dangerous what's going on here when people are saying what they think is the correct way of doing something without sharing sources because there are so many naive people here who trust strangers and don't understand about fact checking and that these strangers could very likely be wrong. And it also makes research for the few who understands the importance of sources more difficult when there are so many meaningless posts to filter through.

Fair enough. But asking for scientific is kinda pushing it in most cases - either the information just doesn't exist, or it's too technical, or people just don't know about it. But I won't complain if we get more scientific sources posted. As long as dumbed-down summaries follow!
