I planned on CTB about a week ago using the nitrogen method with a SCBA mask but had an issue and the process was delayed. this is where the question for you guys comes in. I'm using gas monkeys instructions here as a template but instead of purging before exhale I was thinking of doing after. The regulator to be of usage is a Scott that activates only with first breath, unlike with some regulators made by different brands. Would this be viable?

I found using an exit bag better but if you insist on mask, just purge before and after. It doesn't hurt. There's plenty of gas.

Here is a picture of the adapter connected to the second stage. I have some blue monster Teflon tape but read not to put on adapters for inert gas at least the part that connects directly to the cylinder, but do you think that this would be needed for the end that hooks up to the scba second stage hose? No worries if you can't respond just thought to ask.

I don't know if it would be or not be with or without Teflon tape. My setup is different. I'll be making a post later today. I've got all the part to do the gas transfer of nitrogen into my scuba tank so I can then use the Apollo bio filter. The bio filter is meant to make the nitrogen gas less dry and more natural. I'm really terrified that I'm going to die, but it's inevitable.

Also padding with hand warmers is an effective oxygen gas scrubber.

It's tragic, yeah.
