as a single man with no dependants I have no right to social housing.
A very, very, very X 10^10 important point virtually no one seems to care about. Our university published a series of studies in 2018 showing that nowhere in the USA are there housing resources for the verified statistically prevalent and growing number of male victims of domestic violence. Our law school also published evidence across the 48 contiguous US states that law enforcement operates on an unofficial but catastrophic policy to remove males from their homes, without any offer of shelter or counseling, even when it's the males who call for help and they're clearly the victims of domestic violence. Add the serious effects of court biases, recent documented international biases in professional and educational opportunities, and the popular cavalier dismissal of many of these issues and it's no wonder that so many otherwise healthy men commit suicide.
