This is a question to those people out there suffering from both physical and mental problems. Do you think your mental problems are causing or exacerbating your physical issues?

Like for me, I have suffered from depression and anxiety for a very long time, but my physical health has gotten steadily worse and I can't figure where these issues came from. In turn, the physical problems caused a worsening of the mental problems, which caused a worsening of the physical problems, back and forth.

Somewhere here I was supposed to live a life, but it got destroyed by these issues. Now, I'm at a point where I seemingly can't do anything and I desperately go to doctors, but they never seem to help.

Absolutely yes.

Psychosomatic illness ?

My mental health has always been bad, recurrent, and here for quite a long time now, and I could definitely link it to some physical problems I have. To give you an example, I really think, that ongoing anxiety and internal turmoil gave me "tummy problems". It sounds stupid but apparently, my doctor has the same opinion as me and believes that it comes from my poor mental health...

Yes, there is a very strong link between the mind and the digestive system. That's the first place where mental problems reflect. But, after that, there are also many other physical problems that can come from the aggravation of the mental state. Muscle pain, tiredness, headaches, insomnia, etc... It's all linked.

It is common that physical and mental problems are linked. In the past when I have had anxiety, it has given me physical symptoms and made me feel ill. There has been no other explanation for my symptoms. I generally feel more physically ill the worse I feel mentally.

Mental and physical problems are both symptoms of underlying physiological issues.
