what are you planning to do with your pets when you ctb?
i have 3 cats and they are my world, they mean everything to me. i can't ctb without knowing they will have a safe home to go to when im gone. i really am scared to rehome them before my chosen date though as it i back out or fail i can't imagine being without them.
i was thinking of trying to set up a new home for them for after my date, and giving someone close to me their contact info etc so they can handle the regaining process for me. is this feasible?
what are you thinking about doing with your animals?

Sorry, I'm not sure if I'm understanding what you're asking. Regaining process from where?

I'm leaving my house and money to them, whoever takes care of them gets the house when my pets pass on. I have an ordered list of potential caregivers.

I'm only still alive bc of my dog. I'm more than ready to CTB, excited even, but I love her to where I don't trust anyone to care for her to my standards. She's old w lots of health issues, so as heartbreaking as it'll be, I'm willing that she passes soon so that I can finally leave too.

Depending on your method and how sure you feel you'll commit to your chosen date, maybe you could schedule the new caretaker to pick them up the day after. That way if you fail, you can cancel the pickup, but if you succeed, then the cats won't be left without care.

You could ask someone else to handle the rehoming process, but I'd be wary of them snitching on your intentions. Be super careful to pick someone understanding.

I will leave my cats and dog with this sanctuary with their living trusts—enough for the rest of their life and the remaining to be donated to the sanctuary

Same. The cats love anyone really. But my dog is extremely attached to me and she's also trained to be my service dog. I plan to bring her to the sanctuary to make sure she likes it there.

my cat is my very last reason for staying when everything else feels distant or harder to consider. i live alone in a different state from the person i would leave him with, and keep going over how i could bring him there without raising alarms. the thought of him alone or anxious (he became a bit codependent during covid lockdown in my state/country) makes me sadder than anything else.

My pet is the only reason I'm still here. I've thought a lot about what I'd do to make sure he's cared for.

I adopted a cat in 2021 because of loneliness. Now I deeply regret it because it's impossible to find a good home for her and she is so attached to me while I'm disconnected and just want to stop thinking and breathing. I think of rehoming her but it breaks my heart because I know she will be shut in and she'll be wondering why I abandoned her. The last months are becoming harder and harder, and the last days I've been sleeping all day and she has been meowing because she wants attention and wants to play and I cannot give her what she needs.

I have no feelings at all for pets (there are some in my house but not by my choice). I've looked it up and I guess that's not really abnormal, it's just not typical. To me they are just extra work and a bit of a nuisance. But it's sweet reading of everyone's concern for their pets here. I could almost wish to have feelings like that.

Another practical tip: set up revocable living trust and find a trustworthy trustee. It can be very detailed: for example, one of my cats has corneal issue and I'd dispatch N amount of money every year to check up her eyes.

I've scheduled a consultation with a lawyer to set it up. I want it to be very thorough because this would be their only legal protection after I'm gone and I have no other heirs.

best I can do, unfortunately. But she's a cutie and I love her little socks and her smudge nose and all the purrs and furry joy she brings me. I wish it was more broadly enough. I want to keep going for as long as she does but I genuinely don't have energy to pretend and I really hate being a shithead, I really do.

My cat is the only reason I'm still here, but it's becoming harder and harder. For a few years now, the fear that I will end up leaving him behind is growing. He's a special boy, with a lot of issues and quirks and is extremely attached to me. I know that he's a special case, and there aren't any good alternatives for rehoming him as of yet. It's come to the point where I've been contemplating taking him with me, metaphorically. I just don't know of any humane ways of doing that without involving a vet, who will obviously wonder why the euthanasia of a stable pet. But I'm terrified of what will occur to him if I do leave before he does. He's still fairly young, so the thought of having to deal with the pain of being alive for many more years is just as terrifying. I feel like it's the most responsible thing to do, though, considering I'm just barely hanging on as it is. I'd rather him not end up in a shelter or some other stressful situation. I refuse to do it in a non-humane way though, so I'm stuck. I wish there were a better answer, but my suffering will always take a backseat when it comes to him, so I have no choice but to stay unwillingly.

Waiting for.... Something

Unless I seriously cannot take it anymore, I will be waiting for my pets to go before I do. One of them already lost their first owner. I won't do it to her again unless absolutely necessary. They are pretty old so it should not be an incredibly long wait.

The only reason I lived last year was because of the cat. I can't trust anyone can love her the way I do, so I will try to live for the sake of the cat. My cat is just like me, I would never want her to be lonely without me.

i'm unlucky enough to have a lizard. wasn't even mine to begin with, just couldn't bear to see him mistreated so i took on the responsibility. and most people dont want to (or dont know how to) take care of them, so rehoming is next to impossible. dont want to blame him for me being stuck in hell but here i am

my cat is 16 and 1/2. she's honestly pretty healthy so i wouldn't be surprised if she lives until 20. i really want to die so i don't know what i plan to do. part of me wants to end it now but on the other hand, i dont want to leave her alone, so i might wait until she passes. it's kind of a mindset of, "if things aren't better by the time she's gone, then there will be no more reason to stay"

Two dogs for me. I already had them move in with my parents. They already have 2 dogs so now they have 4. I'm very grateful that my two dogs get to stay together. Also, one of my dog is the sister of one of my parent's dog which is the brother. I hate putting that burden on my parents, but my adult son is not able to care for them and they would likely get split up. It's sad because my son and I we both pretty attached. My parents took them when I went to the hospital about 3 weeks ago for my first attempt. I left my mom a letter asking her to please care for my dogs. I haven't seen them in about 4 days. I might get to see them one more time.

I'm very grateful for the family I have. I love my mom, dad, brother, sister, and son. I love my dogs.

Consider sticking around a little longer? If anything, just for your cats. Cats count as family too

my family will take care of the cat. i pet him every day now, since i know that i won't be able to see him again once i ctb. he'll be sad when i'm gone because i pet him so often. he notices when people aren't home and wonders where they go, since my sister leaves the house often. i'm always taking photos of him.
