I believe it creates blunt force trauma, but unlike a regular gun, it does not provide massive trauma, or extensive tissue damage.

Would definitely knock you off your feet, probably unconscious, as for dead instantly, don't think so.
The brain will still maintain important functions as the upper hemispheres do not control things as important as the lower ones do. You'll probably hemorrhage to death. But it doesn't matter since you'll probably be asleep the whole time.
