SI can be really strong, and I'm asking this because I'm afraid of calling the ambulance on myself after I drink SN (I am not sane during a panic attack). What went through your head when you did this? How did people react after they found out about it? Feel free to mention anything about the experience, or nothing at all.

I used to take overdoses - at the time I believed them to be suicide attempts, in the moment I was taking the pills I wanted to die. However as soon as I started to feel unwell I would panic and dial 999.

In hindsight, they weren't suicide attempts but my way of expressing I wan't coping with life and needed help.

I know that doesn't help you, but that's my experience.
I'm sorry life has become so hard you're worrying about this issue.

After abandoning one attempt I was left confused and in the middle of nowhere, and very seriously considering another impulsive method. I called the emergency services and was accused by the police officer of "just wanting a lift home".

A later attempt was foiled by a friend to whom I had let slip my intentions, he called police from a different area. The officer who came to collect me at that time from the side of some railway tracks told me that I was stupid and complained that if I'd been successful he'd have lost his job, "I've got bills to pay!" he barked. I was suitably humiliated.

I could give other examples both good and bad, but it really depends on the individual who is dealing with you, what they're own experiences are will probably influence how they react. I would also anecdotally argue that younger suicidal people are treated with more scepticism and contempt than older people and it can be difficult not to be labelled as an attention seeker, or to explain to somebody why current circumstances justified such an 'extreme act'.

People really don't care and are just wrapped up in their own problems. I've been down and in agony and had people try to get money from me, or chew me out, or call me a liar when I was in the emergency room. These were nurses and hospital employees who treated me contempt ridicule and insults.

I saw an elderly man collapse in the doctor's waiting room and lie on the floor for half an hour while the doctor stepped over him laughing and joking and ignoring him as if he wasn't there. The staff too just ignore him as he lay there right in the middle of the room.

You're right there MG, I have a lot of respect for nurses but some of them can be awful. I was once admitted to the emergency room with crippling stomach pain, it was so bad that I couldn't walk and they put me in a wheelchair. The nurse on the ward said something along the lines of "I've got nobody here to push you, my one nurse is pregnant, I can't push you, do you really want a heavily pregnant woman to push you?".

Against my better judgement, I stumbled out of the chair, only to collapse in the hallway. Some passing doctors were kind enough to help me up and into the chair. Later on, a doctor came along and was about to administer me with a shot of morphine, the same nurse who had accused me of "faking it" interrupted the doctor to ask whether I'd taken paracetamol/acetaminophen first as if I'd managed to pull the wool over the doctor's eyes.

I felt angry and humiliated. I understand that medical staff are over-worked and morale can be low; I also understand that patients can be difficult sometimes, but that is no excuse to treat people with contempt.

I can understand why you would think that, but as a not-so-young (but not old) person I can say that I also have been treated very badly, with scepticism & contempt, by nurses & hospital staff and labelled as an attention seeker & time waster.
The paramedics were lovely, so kind & caring (well the ones I can remember, a couple of times I was too drugged to remember, one of those times nearly dead).

As I nurse that is truly awful, I'm sorry you had that experience.

well about 2 weeks ago i impulsively cut my wrist, i thought it would be a simple slice that bled a little bit but i miscalculated and hit an artery. in an instant blood started gushing everywhere (yes really) and i freaked out and asked my aunt to call an ambulance, after that you can pretty much guess what happened, i got rushed to the hospital got stitched up and spent the next week in the bin... i feel like such a fool. if only i didn't panic i could have been dead already. now i have to wait for one of my prospects to come through. (drugs). i hate that i came so close but failed. maybe it was because this was supposed to be a routine cutting and i was just not prepared..

Honestly not bad ideas. I probably couldn't get out of it if I were panicking.

Hey, don't worry if it doesn't help, it's better you were honest. And honestly, it does help because it helps me understand your state of mind at the time.

:aw:I mean, cutting does seem like a painful way to go. At least you will be better prepared for next time?

There are a lot of people who have been successful even after vomiting, but I think if you start experiencing symptoms that aren't a normal part of your method then you should probably go to the hospital. Unless you have an iron will of course, in which case good luck.

Overdose attempt, called ambulance a few hours after I woke up because I had severe psychosis (Seeing black figures and believing they killed my family and I was next) Called an ambulance after realising I was psychotic. Spent half a day in the hospital constantly having to shit because activated charcoal (Shit was most likely out of my system already since I survived) and had to spend a day and a half in a psychward. All around a terrible experience tbh, close family members found out that im fucked in the head so next time I won't tell anyone and just attempt to CTB again.

i was in a manic state so the pain just didn't register. if i had just let it happen i think it would have been relatively peaceful.

That another reason as why I will use the exit bag method, i will go somewhere i cant be find before I'm dead, and if i really chicken out before i pass out, I can just put everything back in my trunk and go back home.
Since after testing it few time letzteausfahrt told me he didnt had any consequence. So I wont need to call an ambulance.
