i see that "get help" shit everywhere.
what they mean is pay a shrink to listen to you for an hour and provide little to no actual help, besides just sitting there listening to you.

it depends on the person, i know that some actually benefit from it.

but like with me, my problems are caused by other people, it's not my fault.
i just need people to leave me alone and stop bothering me, and then i'm ok.
i've been to shrinks before, and i'm not impressed whatsoever.

they didn't say anything that i couldn't already have thought of myself.
people like to say stuff like "get help" or phrases they think are motivating, like "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem",
because they haven't had any real problems in life.
they haven't had huge, gigantic unsolvable problems in life,
so they don't relate to someone who has realized the only real solution is suicide.

even tho they are fine with euthnasia for pets... so why not for ourselves, if we also truly are suffering?
they usually shut up on that one.

and regarding the dumbass "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem"...
that phrase is one of my pet peeves.
because: WHO TOLD YOU IT'S A TEMPORARY PROBLEM?
it's their way of saying "things will get better", but how TF can they know?
so it's just another stupid, uninformed , illogical popular saying.

i also see a lot of "suicide prevention day" posts.
they make it out as if suicidal thoughts is similar to cancer, like it's something that just comes for no reason.

if you want to prevent suicidal thoughts and suicide, start fixing the aspect of society that lead people to suicide.
suicide can be completely fucking rational, when there's no other options left.
but they don't like that fact.

... like i said, except for when it comes to pets -- then they see the point.

oh, last thing:
i also heard someone in here say they made fun of him on the suicide hot line.
i bet he regrets getting "help" after that

It pisses me off so much, especially when it comes to suicidal disabled people.. not all problems are "temporary" and it's 100% valid to not want to wait until some "new science dicovery that will totally cure you!" which is highly unlikely and even if something like that were to be discovered, it takes decades for it to be approved, available in your area and affordable, not to mention often times the side effects of treatments or long term risks heavily outweigh them. I'm not going to wait indefinitely for "maybe they will find out something else".. fuck I wish I was stronger, I need to be strong and do it very soon..

for me this wouldnt fix the issue tho but it can fix a lot of others. most likely the ones that are a extreme rush.
but like with me, my problems are caused by other people, it's not my fault.

i wished we could spam them into oblivion with story of people that CTB stating

"well i didnt want to use this route but doctor and everybody a like didnt want to listen. so i toke it in my own hands to choice method x y z"

probally end up on a list of danger towards other people

people like to say stuff like "get help" or phrases they think are motivating, like "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem",
because they haven't had any real problems in life.
people feel legally (in some jurisdictions, people are required to notify emergency services when witnessing life-threatening events, like suicide) and morally compelled to say some "correct" things like that, I don't think they always mean it actually, but it is just a safe and common thing to say and respond.
even tho they are fine with euthnasia for pets... so why not for ourselves, if we also truly are suffering?
they usually shut up on that one.
either they buy the sanctity of life bullshit, or they want to avoid controversy, resposibility etc, imagine someone really committed suicide after one expressed support for assisted suicide and this was publicized, people will blame this person for "encouraging suicide".

I feel you. I think it is just our culture with suicide is so twisted, suicide is so canceled and taboo, no arguments allowed.

Next time someone tells me to "get help" I'll reply with, "Okay, I'll go get euthanasia". Of course I don't have access to that, but it's the ONLY kind of help that could EVER help me. And I know what you mean about this:

and regarding the dumbass "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem"...
that phrase is one of my pet peeves.
because: WHO TOLD YOU IT'S A TEMPORARY PROBLEM?
it's their way of saying "things will get better", but how TF can they know?
so it's just another stupid, uninformed , illogical popular saying.

My question for people who say that stupid shit is, why is a permanent solution a bad thing? Are we just supposed to keep using temporary bandaid fixes over and over? Screw that.

I know how you feel. I can't stand people who advocate for "suicide prevention" as if it's a DISEASE that you just get. then again, mental health in general is treated like some sort of horrible disease in society and I hate it.

they'll never understand why people want to kill themselves in the first place. if it was a "temporary problem" then I wouldn't consider jumping off a building.

"get help" okay, mr. wise guy.....why don't you help me, then!!! this phrase is almost always used as an insult; it is not helpful to insult me when i'm struggling and clearly not mentally well! also straight up telling people "get help" even knowing that they are struggling so much to the point where they genuinely want, need to die, is straight up telling them that you're giving up on them. and saying "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem..." what do you know? funny enough, a lot of the problems I face are in fact not temporary! what I'm feeling is not just a quick phase of sadness. really, knowing that a lot of my problems are permanent, has made me more suicidal. so fuck you, too!

Seriously though, go for it. I hate people that blindly think therapy fixes everything so I love being obnoxious to them.

Yes to all of this. Therapy and medication are helpful for some things, like coming up with strategies to deal with *some* types of problems or giving you more energy and focus, but it won't fix chronic pain or disability. It won't put money in your pocket or create job opportunities. It won't make friends or lovers appear out of thin air or make the toxic people around you disappear.

When people say "get help," what they are really trying to say is "I acknowledge you're unhappy but don't make it my problem." How dare you make them feel guilty with your ctb attempt instead of paying a professional to listen to your problems without actually fixing them?

This is literally why I hate self-help books, mental health channels, and do not have any reamining trust in the mental health institutions here at all. I think people just try to say whatever they can put together in their heads at that moment to sound like they understand when they don't. Different people are born and grow up with different thresholds for suffering as well as the type of suffering itself. People with chronic illnesses, people in the warzone, people with only a few years left to live, people who can't get a job no matter how hard they've tried, people in poverty who cannot break through the ceiling, students who are bullied and threatened... they truly have never talked to these people before.

So many wrong things they could've fixed to easily push the suicide rates but they never did. Affordable healthcare, fixing the non-compete agreement, overcome inflation, stop using the damn money for weapons and start using it for affordable education instead... so many things.

i really don't like when people say the permant solution thing. how can they assume every suicidal person had only temporary problems? and it doesn't even make sense because it's supposed to be against suicide but also calls it a solution? i always thought no one should like that saying because it kind of goes against both sides. but it still seems popular somehow.
