my friends cut me off because im too suicidal. its weird cuz they say "we're accepting and wont judge". and when i say my struggles and suicidal feelings, they just dont respond. i didnt do that just for attention, i was genuinely painfully suicidal. i go to therapy, i try new hobbies. still, i cant help it. but suddenly they cut me off because they're uncomfortable. a lot of people in general get uncomfortable when they fin out that im suicidal. i tried my best to hide it, but that makes me lonelier. now they dont even care that i survived an attempt. its as if its a normal tuesday. are they ignorant and in the wrong or are they fine for protecting their peace?

There's little point in moralizing it as 'someone's fault' in the sense that thinking that way will just make you feel bad one way or another. That being said, they're certainly far from the kind of people I'd call a good friend based off of what you're describing.

Ultimately, you need to go where you're wanted. People like that are more interested in fair weather friendships than anything and would've likely ditched over any other serious issue. That's just how some people are, and that's probably not the kind of people you would want to be surrounded by.

i feel it. i recently posted on a forum saying that i hate suicide prevention day because everyone pretends to care on one particular day, but when it actually comes to helping someone who's suicidal, they wash their hands of it and spit in your face. they make us feel like we're sick.

For me the problem is that they all say "I'm such a kind, accepting and nonjudgmental person" but it's all performative and fake.
They only say so because the norm is to pretend to care about what others are going through or feeling, this has happened with the majority of people I've met, I can't open up to them fully because they'll either stonewall me or just feed off the information to gossip (while still claiming they care and wanna listen).
At least the people that don't even believe in mental health being a real thing and such say their convictions directly.

I think it's difficult for them. Compare it to someone having a physical disability after an accident, for instance. Maybe they used to go hiking or cycling with their friends, and now that person is in a wheelchair and can't do that anymore. The friends don't want to exclude their disabled friend, but they feel uncomfortable - can they even talk about hiking and cycling any longer around their disabled friend, or will that make them sad because they can't do that any longer? And the easiest way to avoid that is avoiding contact altogether...
It may be similar with someone suicidal. Your friends may be unsure about how to talk to you, worried they might say something that makes you feel worse, and so on.
They can't imagine what it feels like and they also don't really want to imagine it, because it's painful.

Maybe they feel a little bit suicidal too and are afraid they fall deeper into it?!

I lost all but one of my friends over the past 10 or so years and the last one is more like an acquaintance now. He build an entirely separate group with his coworkers and they do stuff together while i sit here all alone.

IMO a lot of people overestimate their ability to be a support for suicidial person. They think it's something similar to flu, a regular bad day or ankle in a cast. When they realize they have no skills to be one, its easy to blame and say "they are too much and wont get better no matter how i help" whdn their help is literally just saying "just be happy".

People also dislike depressed, weird, autistic, disabled, [insert anything that is not conforming to capitalistic value] people. You are justified for wanting better friends, but they are also valid for not wanting to deal with suicidals. And you can't expect people outside of Sasu to understand and sympathize with this, it's like wanting a fish to climb a tree, eventually people will get fed up and cut you off. My life gets significantly better when I learn to reach people where they at and not expect anything more. Wish you the best, this is what the forum is for, use it

I hate the fact i can relate to both sides of this. I can't support people in their problems I just feel sometimes as if it's physically impossible for me. I never had anyone ever to lean on emotionally or tell my problems to so if someone tries to talk to me about it I just can't listen to it, it's in one ear out the other. And then in a typical style of a hypocrite I get sad or sometimes angry if people dismiss my issues.
That part after suicide attempt tho? That's really fucking awful
