Hello,

I've read a few discussions about this method and it seems like the most common problem is that a lot of people can't make themselves pass out.

But what happens if you do manage to pass out?
Can you still stand up from a crouching/kneeling/sitting position? How realistic is this? Does anyone have anything to share on this subject?

It seems like if the blood flow to the brain is cut off you wouldn't have enough strength to do that but I'm not sure. I would like to hear your opinions on this.

I believe an unconscious person would not have either the awareness or ability to stand.

You are unlikely to fully stand up, but there is a chance that you straighten up and relieve some of the pressure on your neck. This happened to me. It is quite irritating.

That being said, many people are still very successful with partial. 🤷

Thanks for your input.
It's actually the lack of awareness that concerns me. I wouldn't try to stop it if I'd be aware of what's happening. I guess I'm afraid there would be some instinctual attempt to stop it. Something similar to hands grabbing the rope or nearby objects which can be observed in some videos.

Thank you very much! That's a bit discouraging but very valuable information. And "straighten up" is definitely a better term. Standing up is probably impossible because you would lack the ballance required to do it but straightening your body can be enough to relieve some of the pressure.

The method is far from foolproof. Strangulation often causes trashing movements even after unconsciousness which could lead to failure. Securing hands and weighing down legs sound like good ideas to help with that. I have considered this method but ultimately rejected it for two reasons. First is discomfort and second being the violent nature of hanging. I would prefer a hypoxic death without the need to put pressure on the neck but that's just me.
