  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Well, my parents have spent quite a large sum of money on my higher education. I was supposed to help them to repay it. And here I am, probably going to kill myself and leave them not just with a loss of a son, but with a large debt as well. On the other hand, the life for me at this point is almost physically painful, and I have zero intentions in living any longer. What do you think?

I'm pro-choice when it comes to suicide but in certain cases I can't support it or even discourage it. I mean your young, and you still have all that debt with your parents. What is condition? And what have you tried to help get yourself out of this funk?

Well, does it even matter? I have a number of reasons which I know are hard to fix. But at the end of the day, it is about ending the bad feelings caused by existing in this reality, not really about the cause of these bad feelings. Sometimes I see people saying that they are suicidal for the reasons which I don't find important, but I don't judge them because at the end it is about their, not my feelings.

I'm in the same situation. My parents spent at least $100000 on my education and I'm graduating this year. They aren't rich at all. they are in debt because of me and still, they never intended for me to pay anything. They are taking full responsibility of my education.

I don't really feel guilty to be honest. I just can't find it within myself to be guilty…
perhaps it's because I understand how complexe life is and you can't just apply this type of reasoning to such an existential matter
or perhaps I just don't realize how incredibly selfish and entitled of a person I am

I'm in the exact shit you're in. I'm a med student stuck in final year. I fucked it all up because of mental illness and my parents spent a fortune on my education. I don't feel like I can go on with these bad feelings like guilt, regret, shame etc but I don't wanna fuck up my parents who love me so much. What do i do?

If you really want to know how to get out of this. Then I suggest that you get a mediocre job and take out a life insurance policy, then once the clause has expired which is usually two years, then you can take your life and your parents will be the beneficiaries of that life insurance policy no questions asked. But you have to tell them how they can get the policy in the suicide note otherwise they will never be able to get that money.

Hi
I am sorry for your situation.
Only you can choose what to do.
Would all the debt be repayable if u die ? That does seem harsh.
I feel your despiration and you are so thoughtful and kind in considering the financial impact on your parents which i can see is adding more pressure to a very stressful and difficult time.

When we have reached so low, money doesnt seem to matter and i feel its almost impossible to live for others.maybe we have to think of ourselves.( for once in my case).
I wish u well in life or death x

Are you in the US? If so did your parents cosign federal student loans with you? If you die before the debt is paid off, the debt becomes forgiven but you need your parents to provide documentation of your death to the proper federal bureaus/whatever.
Note that private land are harder to discharge. They won't necessarily let your parents off the hook.
This will provide you with more info.

You don't owe them nothing. They are the ones in debt since they wanted to procreate. Ofc they had to pay for ur expenses. No regrets!
