This attachment is quite a lengthy read.

A comment in the third article "Drug Toxicity and Overdose" by Waller) might excite comment here, viz. that "Most deliberate self poisoning represents 'parasuicide' or attention seeking behaviour,."

I'll enjoy all the attention I get from the crows pecking my eyes out deep in the woods, yeah.

I thought 'parasuicide' is when you pretend to be into skydiving to be able to jump from a plane

Love to read these types of assholic inferences...

I'm sure there are many but sounds like a money grab to me: "Let's label everyone attention seekers until they succeed that way we dont have to spend time and money helping them."

Must be wonderful to get all that great attention sitting in a filthy, clausterphobic, unsafe mental institution. With all that wonderful attention from strangers who needs friends?

What a joke!

It's true that some people will use even their own 'death' to hold control over others, to get things nobody can GIVE them. However, every single attempt is an unavoidable point of transformation: Does somebody hear what they're saying by it, and respond with either what they truly need or the bitter truth that what they're seeking does not exist? Or do they go blindly on, by the book?

For better or worse, an attempt requires an honest response.

I think people hear "attention seeking behaviour" in different ways, it carries some negative connotations but for some people a "failed attempt" is just about the only thing that will "wake up" the people around them to the severity of their situation. Attention seeking may save their life...

That's exactly what me a suicide addict wants them to think. Too bad those idiots still insisted on keeping me trapped, because "I may accidentally go to far". What a joke is right!

I do think psychology often demonizes this natural need instead of focusing on how to better meet it.

Seemed it may have in my case for about a week. I actually thought "huh...maybe something good can come from this after all" as everyone told me to hold on to the tiny good I could find. But it took all of about a week and a half for people to show their true colors again. Just makes me all the more wishing I had succeeded. The assholes and systems couldn't even last a few days before they made it about themselves again. That in itself crushed any hope I had for a recovery. Even if I can heal from the physical issues from the attempt...I am still broken and people are still shit.
