• Hello Guest,

We will not be following or complying with the Online Safety Bill that was recently signed into law in the UK. This bill will not affect the operations of the site, nor do we have a presence in the UK to receive notice or fines that the UK Government may impose.

We would highly recommend that all users from the UK get some sort of VPN, and you should petition your lawmakers to let them know how you feel about this piece of draconian legislation.

I posted yesterday but it was lost. When the site was down I did some reading - I learned that sasu or ss, was founded by 2 people who are part of the incel subculture. I'm not sure how much involvement they have now. This led to more reading about incels. Falling down the good ol' google rabbit hole.

What do you think about the origins? It doesn't bother me but it may bother others?

It legitimately doesn't matter.

This seems to be a common talking point among those who oppose this forum's existence but it's not actually an argument— it's a pretty cheap way to attack the forum— to use an already abhorred internet subculture as a straw man of sorts.

If the argument is that by using the site you're supporting the work of incels (as I've heard someone say here)— SS clearly isn't for profit, and consequently the creators— even if they were still involved in the running of the site, which they aren't— don't benefit from its usage.

If the argument is that incels created this site and incels are misogynistic/homophobic so this site must be misogynistic/homophobic— well, that's demonstrably false. The rules clearly state that discrimination on the basis of gender or sexual orientation isn't allowed. I certainly haven't seen any misogynistic or homophobic posts here.

(Which, y'know, makes sense when you consider the forum's demographics. From polls— around half of the members are GSMs (the admin herself included). Around half are women. Around 75% are under 30, and young people tend to lean liberal, socially. Around 80% are either from North America or Europe, and the countries therein tend to have more favourable laws governing women's and LGBTQ+ rights relative to the rest of the world. It's hard to imagine most members with such backgrounds as proponents of incel ideology.)

So no, I don't think it should bother anyone.

The incel connection seems extremely slight; for example, they may appreciate free speech more than some other movements, since they face censorship. But that's about it

Searching doesn't find much here by Serge or Marquis. So I just listened to Naama Kates's interviews with Serge about incels. (Parts one, two.) Serge & Naama are both insightful

I imagine it's more relevant that Serge & Marquis are simply competent at building forums

I saw this video literally yesterday:

A lot of things are really shady but we do not have another platform like this where we can talk without censorship or fear of hotlines reaching us.
A lot of things they said in the video, and the comments too feel as if they are more concerned about a bunch of stupid vUlnErAbLe pEopLe being here as if we haven't already been weighing the pros and cons of life for months and likely have no other option and were planning to suicide anyway, just with the possibility of potentially getting injured for life because the way people make this topic seem so dirty and taboo we have no resources about methods. They have a very wrong idea of this website like it's all toxic and manipulation here, people actively tell others that there's no hope in life(a lot of which is true tho if you think rationally, philosophically), like we have no control over ourselves and will blindly follow what others say if it were smth harmful and like it's a cult here. They will never see things from our perspective even tho everything is very logical and are the most selfish people who want others suffering to keep on suffering in this life imprisonment, can't even die, and think we are crazy when we express our views of fundamental rights etc.

I like the response from us to him. Have you read it? I read it before I saw the video from your post

I just read it whole and now I'm sure this man isnt just poorly educated or indifferent but actively trying to make us look bad for no reason😵😵 I couldn't agree more with every word in this post, talking as if he knows anything about depression and suffering first hand. Anyone in general who doesn't support right to die is a red flag to me, basically whole world almost; oh no more reason to socially isolate and die. I can't fathom how majority of the world doesn't understand this concept of assisting safe suicide
