I have a half-sister, that I don't know very well and just even found out about, but anyway, she needs a whole new liver -- like, she is going to die soon. But there are all these laws and complications with getting her one. Will my liver be useable if I use CO and am found the next morning? The other question is if it would be allowed that they'd take my liver and give it to her because I granted permission. Anyone know the answers?

Unlikely, as far as I'm aware - you'd need to be pretty fresh

they'd need to have the liver within like 4 hours. think theres a specific window for organs that can be used during transplants. probably under 4 hours, maybe even sooner. if ur gonna ctb, better make sure it does fuck up ur organs, and ur founf within 4 hours. you'd have to write up a will probably granting her permission legally i think.

thats an amazing gesture though, really good thing to even think about doing though. wish i was in a position to save someone elses life like that, really a beautiful thing to do man.

Highly unlikely. Organ donation must occur within 36 hours at most (depends on the organ/tissue) and preferably immediately after brain death, while the body is on life support (as a lack of oxygenated blood causes tissue death). In the case of "unnatural" or suspicious death (homicides and suicides), an investigation and/or autopsy is required in most places, which makes organ donation impossible. In the case of a liver, it would almost certainly be unusable after a night of being dead. Many doctors also have ethical objections to using the organs of suicide victims (that's encouraging suicide!), though for practical reasons, that's mostly relevant to physician assisted suicides, so that's another issue, even if you manage to CtB in a hospital and stay on life support long enough for organ harvesting to take place.

It is possible to do a living organ donation for some organs, including the liver, which might be worth looking into. You'd lose a good portion of your liver, but if you're sure that's not going to be a long-term problem for you, well...

That's a fucking amazing thing to do in really terrible circumstances...

I think - if this is something you really want to do - something like SN with delayed emails and SMS messages is your best chance... The reason I think SN is favourable is because the blood continues to deliver some oxygen to your organs, meaning that your liver has a better chance of being usable. I'm completely open to being corrected here though. I think the key here is early notification of other people and certain death...

This is an incredibly sad situation. I hope things go as well as they can

I've thought of killing myself right in front of an e.r. for this very reason. Not for anyone in particular, just someone that can get a use out of it (organs) since I'd no longer be needing them. I figured a gunshot to the head would get the picture across. That autopsy thing that was mentioned wasn't something I had considered though. I just imagined it as a fairly quick organ harvest after they had seen that my survival was impossible.

I had the same question couple days ago. Since I am registered as an organ donor to begin with.

From my research, they only accept those who were brain dead...SN is pretty much out of question

That sounds like full or partial suspension, or night-night are the options then? Would that be right?

Wouldn't make a difference, unless you ended up in a persistent vegitative state and put on life support inside a hospital for days or weeks. (And even then, the government could insist on an autopsy, or organs could be rejected on ethical grounds.) The way organ donation actually works is pretty inefficient and terrible.
