I'm in the UK (well Scotland to be exact) and I don't get the open casket funeral at all. I know it's huge in the states and other countries but it something we really haven't adopted here.
I don't mind seeing the deceased in the chapel of rest but not say 100 people filing past your casket with false tears etc.

I find the idea of an open casket funeral a bit unsettling, personally. Just cremate me and get it over with lol

I went to very frew funerals as a kid that weren't at least a casket and usually open unless really messy. Cremation is a normal thing now so it's been about 50/50 for me. I'm being cremated. I find it a bit odd now that I'm older, looking at a dead person, since most people outside of immediate family won't have seen the person go downhill, if a natural death, and then have to do that "oh they looked good" when they look really different than remembered. I didn't recognize my friends dad and I've know the family for 50+ years.
