  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I don't know how to feel about this. On one hand I'm glad I left that environment that clearly wasn't doing me any good and I've made a lot of posts about the mistreatment of the teachers and such.

But on the other hand I try to not give in to the popular belief that if you don't complete higher education you're the biggest failure that can exist.

Then I also think to myself, why the fuck do these matter if everything will end soon?

that must have been a very small university. in most universities, teachers don't know their students and they don't give a damn about them. university teachers have so many students who come and go and they never take any interest in any of them as individuals. i find it strange that you imagined any teacher would notice you!!. it's your decision all the same, but it could be based on wrong facts.

I wouldn't beat myself up too much if I were you.

There's a global trend that's developed so far as I can tell. We got far too many degreed individuals and not enough artisans or people that have learned a trade. And sadly tradesmen are looked down upon. Dunno what you were studying obviously. But we sure are not short of fucking lawyers and accountants and rocket scientists that think their shit doesn't stink. Same with so-called medical "professionals".

Yay! I went to university and didn't pass my degree too!

No we're not the biggest failure that can exist. There's plenty of people that don't get into university in the first place.

There is an acute shortage of medical "professionals" and they are treated like shit in almost every system around the world. Trust me most of my medical friends would have rather become a tradesman than a doc but they fell in love with science and got blinded by the glitz and glamour around the medical professions spewed on to mass media. There are not enough doctors in this world, nor are there enough nurses. Lawyers, accountants and rocket scientists are a dime a dozen but not enough doctors. Doctors aren't happy with their lives(at least all the docs I know) and medical students aren't any better off. For most of you life you will be an academic and that means you will always be stepped on by the dog above and always squirming in poverty of some kind. It's better than being homeless and hungry but I know a lot of Cardiologists who are seriously thinking about tossing all their stuff and go live in some cave in Nepal.
