  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I had my aortic root and valve replaced 26 years ago. I just had a checkup and they said the root replacement appears to be bulging and they have requested a CT scan to see it more clearly.

Apparently, it shouldn't be possible for the replacement root to bulge. I did randomly do some heavy lifting a few months back, trying to make my aorta dissect, so this might have caused the bulge. It was pretty stupid, but I had read of cases where aortic dissection was just moderately painful, so I figured I could wait it out and bleed out internally. But my Dad died from an aortic dissection, and my mum said he collapsed at work and was thrashing around like he was having an epileptic fit. Also, I've read more accounts that said it was an unimaginably horrific pain.

If the CT scan leads to needing surgery, I plan to say I don't consent. I have avpd and I'm not good at talking to doctors. Will I have to explain my reasons for not consenting, or will they probably not care? I'm hoping the possibility of a horrifically painful dissection can be extra motivation for my carbon monoxide plan.

They truly do not give a shit. Just tell them you will get back to them and stop answering the receptionist's calls to schedule the surgery. I have stopped going to everything except pain management appointments and I'd stop going to those if I could.**

**Take this advice with a grain of salt. I am so done with doctors right now I could scream.

They can not force you to have surgery if you are not actively dying. If you do not scheldue it and/or sign a consent form, there is nothing they can do.

I am in similar situatiin in regards to my liver i k ow a transplant would be possible .. but i have decided to not take on the responability as i know with my .ental health and other physicall ilnesses it would be a slim chance any way but the best way to organise this is to complete a small bit off paper work.. called an.. "Advance decision notice" or sometime called a " living will complete the form have it signed by some one who is not a family member or close friend or even someone named in your will.. tbis prevents anyone interfering by using the phrase... " i dont tbink or belive he/she has .e tal capacity ro make this choice." This paper work over rules any family choices to try keep you alive even if you was end up in coma it out ranks doctors, shrinks etc as long as it completed while you have capacity to make an informed choice...

Seconding this. If you tell them you don't want surgery, they will probably ask you why in order to protect themselves from liability. If you just never answer their calls, they will just shrug their shoulders.

It's insane how much money, effort, time, fuss, people put into patching up mortal bodies. I agree with the doctor who said after age 75 he would no longer seek medical treatment. The budgets of entire nations would be set aright if everyone had common sense. I hope you don't experience the pain you mentioned, but completely agree with not wanting surgery. I don't hate doctors but I can't trust them, because they are sucked up into the massive medical profit-making machinery.

I read that same article about the doctor who would refuse treatment after 75 and I also agree. My 93 MIL had a hip replacement last year, can you imagine!? Heck I'm 55 and would refuse treatment.
