  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I have no desire for work idc so I'd rather be dead than have to work a stressful job, interacting with humans that give me bad emotions, no interest in this world it's boring and no thanks

In my suicide note I mentioned I'm not going to work for a pension I won't be able to collect. What is the value of a social security check in a world 5C or more warmer

I'm kind of itching to work on something and to stop sitting idly, writhing as an unproductive miserable mess, but I would need my problems to be remedied before that could happen, and that's pretty much an impossibility now. (Would need time-travel to be a thing as well.)
I loathe being seen as lazy though, I would gladly trade my hell for a 9-5, though I'm sure it wouldn't be without some worthwhile complaints.

I do somewhat understand the desire to stay out of (or leave) the machine, so to speak, most occupations just starve the mind of individuality and creativity, not everyone gets to pursue a passion-project type of job, or if they do, they may end up living in a one-room apartment in an unsavory location.
And if you've already got struggles in life or have no positives to dilute the staleness and chains of monotony, you just might lose it!

Number one sign of an unsavory location: is rap or country music playing ? (For U.S. based life observers)

Recent study on music types and IQ

Oh no…idk about that one, isn't most taste in music somewhat transient anyhow?

What about those who like all types of music? Are their IQs simultaneously both low and high? Evened out? lol

(I think we may be derailing the thread. So might be best to treat these as rhetorical questions.)

I do want to ctb someday but the fear of work makes me want to do it as soon as possible. I'm supposed to work in a month from now and I can't do it. it's impossible. working is so scary. I need to ctb before I'm forced to work. I just see myself working overtime and the level of stress that I will go through is scary. at the same time, I feel like if I start work I will be in such an emotional state that it will make my SI go away and make ctb easier.

I have the opposite of you. I can't work unless it's overtime because I just feel that otherwise it's just a waste of time .

When I work I want to work all the time. I want to make a ton of money . When I come home I just feel like the rest of the day is a waste of time . Much rather go back to work

Sometimes I use work to cure boredom but I don't take it too seriously

We are all forced to exist and we have all these pressures and expectations placed on us, it is all very depressing. Working is just being a slave to the society. I have absolutely no interest in living at all, life is just a pointless struggle until we finally die. I see life as mostly just being meaningless suffering. More than anything I wish I never existed.

It's only pointless because you can't see the point. We cannot neither declare it pointed or pointless, so we might as well pretend that it has a point, since is a more comfortable psychological position.

Existentialists would say that life intrinsically has no point but we each have to make or find our own point. Or not. I haven't. And want to ctb.

Nobody actually knows why life started and what it is all about. Evolution isn't an answer since it was put in motion by something else.

I consider myself an existentialist but don't think life is pointless. I just can't find the point, but I imagine it has one.

What get me is the millions of separate entities on this earth each having to find their own way. I tell myself I don't matter and believe it. So why can't I just ctb right now?

Yeah, working is a huge reason why I want to ctb, life is bad enough on its own without having to bust your ass for 40 hours a week just to barely get by...

Theo Van Gogh : "Hiding away here. Wasting you're time. You've become an idler. "
Vincent Van Gogh : "An idler. Yes. But there are two kinds of idlers. There's the man who's idle because he wants to be, out of laziness. How easy that is. I envy him. But, there's the other kind. The man who's idle in spite of himself. I want nothing *but* to work. Only, I can't. I'm in a cage. A cage of shame and self-doubt and failure. Somebody, believe me, I'm caged. I'm caged and I'm alone. I'm frightened. "

Yes. You spend so much time throughout life working. It breaks you physically as well as emotionally. And after all of the money and effort that you contribute to the system what do you get out of it? Nothing... besides perhaps funding the repair of a damaged road every now and again, but that is about it. I do not see the point in working toward something - i.e.: a pension- that can be taken away at any moment by those in power.
